Thanks sooo much everyone. Sorry I hadn't come back, but I was so stressed over this whole trip that I didn't even have a chance to get on the computer much yesterday. I am anxiously counting the hours until I leave work... 3 1/2 hours left to go and I will be heading to the airport with the kiddies. I can't believe this has happened...I'm so nervous and it seems surreal, almost like I'm in denial.

I hope you and your family enjoy your night. Give us a call, when you can come up for air. Have a great night, and even though we haven't heard from you . . . Well, he's been here for a week now and things are going REALLY well! He's been having a lot of fun learning new things and trying new foods. It's kind of weird to see how much stuff he has to learn like:

Washing Machine and Dryer

Microwave

Stove

Electric Iron

TIVO (lol, he learned this the fastest and records TV shows all day long)

paying & pumping gas

counting coins

Making local and long distance calls INSIDE the US

Liberia's war completely ruined their electricity grids and running water for the past 14 years...so just imagine no appliances for that long. The second day here, he wanted to wash dishes and he stood in front of the faucet with a blank look on his face. He didn't know whether to turn it or pull it up. The same thing happened when he was brushing his teeth and he assumed my sink was broken.

He has learned very fast and he LOVES taking care of the house. I remember the first day back to work he called me and asked me if he could wash some clothes because he was just dying to use the washing machine. I said "baby, you just got here yesterday...what could you possibly need to wash??" He said, " the two shirts I used on my trip!" I had to crack up laughing and I because I was thinking that is SOO not a load of clothes, lol. Anyway, I come home to all of the beds made with new washed sheets, washed dishes, cooked food, my kids and I have clothes washed, folded, and ironed for next two weeks...LOL. The list goes on. Let's hope he keeps it up, lol. He just loves how American life is so easy. In Liberia, it would take a whole Saturday to wash half a load of clothes while it only takes him an hour to a do a whole load. He loves it!

He and the kids get along very well and they cling to him more than they do to me. It's been great to have him helping with them. He likes a lot of American food, but not really macaroni and cheese and he hates broccoli. He thinks our fried chicken is the best! He think there are a lot of "funny looking" people in the states and he is amazed at how many "large" people he sees. He loves how everything here is so efficient, but he thinks a lot of things here are also made to make people lazy. He loves the way we drive so fast and he laughs at how everyone always seems to be on a mission. He LOVED THE WALMART TRIP! His eyes got so big and he smiled at all of the stuff they sell under one roof.

It has been super-busy since he got here because I have to much to show and teach him. I can see how some people might get frustrated with showing their SO their new surroundings. It was a bit of a shock to me that I had so much to catch him up on, but I was prepared for it and I have been extremely patient with him. In the past week he has made me so proud with his ability to adapt and settle in. I have been trying to take him somewhere new each day because I am worried about him being cooped up in the house all day. He has loved being at home, but just yesterday, I think the boredom was starting to kick in. He called me at work and told me he couldn't get his mind off of Liberia yesterday and just for 5 mins he wished he could fly back home to see how his family was. That was the only sign of him being homesick and I know it's because he is now finally starting to run out of things to keep him occupied.

Before he came, we had established a volunteer opportunity for him at the hospital near my house and he is excited about that since he wants to become an ER doctor. He is planning to volunteer from 12-6 Mon- Fri so that should be fun for him. He will start that within the next two weeks once he gets his SSN. We are applying for it this coming week. He is anxious to start school this spring, get a part time job, and open a bank account and establish a credit history. He seems to have a good understanding of taking each thing one at a time and he is just trying to get as settled in as possible without a greencard.

We both have said we don't have any regrets at all and we are planning to marry sometime at the end of this month or early October. I couldn't be happier and it feels so good to not be lonely anymore and to have my best friend/soon to be husband by my side. I love his hugs and kisses and his whole personality is awesome. I am truly grateful.
