What I'm taking to my K1 interview in London. Is it ok?

I was born in Luton but live in Cornwall so I couldn't just pop down to the office. I wrote to the registrar of births and deaths requesting 2 copies with a cheque for £14... Worried now

The turnaround time for Bruce's long form (he too only had the short form) from the GRO was something like 10 days. I was really surprised that it came so quickly! It should come in plenty of time, and if it doesn't, explain at the interview why you don't have it on the day. The worst that can happen is that you'll be approved pending submission of the long form, which you can then send on to the Embassy if it doesn't arrive in time.

Also, they have a premium delivery option. It's a bit pricey at 26 pounds but it should see you get the certificate within 2 days.

RaTBoX earlier in the thread quoted the following from the embassy's website:

Birth Certificate - the original or certified copy of the birth record of each family member (yourself, your spouse and all unmarried children under the age of 21). The certificate must contain the person's date and place of birth and names of both parents. It must be annotated by the appropriate authority indicating that is an extract from the official records. Please note that the so-called British "short form" birth certificate is not acceptable.

As long as it has the above info, you'll be fine.

Wikipedia has the following to say on the difference:

In the United Kingdom, an individual certificate is not kept on file for each birth. Instead, all births are recorded in registers, and each "full" birth certificate issued is actually a certified photocopy of an entry from the register of births, which is held by the local Registry Office and at the General Register Office, London, pursuant to the Births and Deaths Registration Act of 1953. The full certificate is an exact copy of the entry, showing the child's surname, forename(s), date of birth, sex, place of birth, the parent(s) name(s), their address and occupations at the time of registration. Full certificates are required for most legal purposes.

In addition, one can obtain a "short" birth certificate, which is an abstract of the original entry and only includes the surname, forename(s), date of birth, sex, registration district and sub-district in which the birth took place. No fee is chargeable for this certificate at the time of registration.
