another vote for the congress dude! they love cases like this, easy for them to make a phone call, and get info for ya. happy people = better chance of you voting for them!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I finally got through to Montreal on the phone, and all I got was a recording, saying "due to staffing issues, you are no longer able to speak to a live operator, regarding your case!!!". I have sent another email off, still no response from my first one last week, and I think I will fax a letter off tonight.

I think that they don't like looking at their mistakes. I sent an e-mail to them on the 24th and had a response on the 27th. A few words but a response nonetheless telling me to go bug the NVC. Keep bothering them, don't give up until they respond. They have to, sooner or later. Fax them and e-mail them twice a week if need be.

After 3 emails, and the last one telling them I will be faxing a letter to them later today, I got an email response from Montreal. It states that they will schedule me for another interview and I will be notified by mail of when it is. Anytime before the middle of January, is fine with me, my husband is deployed until then. I would rather see other people go for thier interviews, and be able to move right away to be with thier spouses/fiances.

Just an update: I got an email from Montreal, on Tues, Sept 11, asking me if I could make an interview on Oct 5th @ 9am. I replied to them, Yes, I can make that day, but still haven't gotten a reply back, or a confirmation that they received my answer. I'm patiently waiting for something from them, so I can book my flight from Vancouver. Funny, on tues, when I got the email, I went to look at flights right away, and they were approx $550. Today, the flights are now $750. UGH!!!

Hopefully I will get a reply on monday when they return to work.

If you were looking at Air Canada, they had a seat sale that ended on Sept. 13.

Firstly, congrats!!!! I would try to get a confirmation ASAP. Try them again in a few days. I've had e-mails from USCIS that stated something but were never confirmed. There is no good time for getting the magical airline seats, at least in my experience. I usually book late at night but I too have seen seats become available one minute and disappear the next. It makes no sense to me. If you are a bit more adventurous you may want to take the bus.
