I sent in the I-130 form to the Nebraska service center last week for my spouse. On the cover letter I wrote that I intended to file for the K-3 visa. After seeing how much it costs I would rather not do that. Do I need to let them know that I no longer intend to apply for a K-3 visa? I hope it doesn't delay anything.

I think you better inform them. And dont file the I-129f for that was the form needed to file in USCIS for the K3 route. CR1 is a much better visa. More cheaper and less paperwork when your spouse is already in US.

Definitely let them know you are continuing with the I-130 and have decided not to go with the I-129f as they may hold the I-130.

Smart move as I-129Fs are basically dinosaurs now.

Not only more expensive but can be a pain in the but BIGTIME.

It is not correct that you need to inform them. The I-130 will not be held unless you file a I-129f that gets approved and sent to NVC first. Bascially, writing about the K3 visa on the cover letter does nothing. So all you have to do is pretend you didn't write it!
