USPS is best because it is pretty much reliable and cheapest; however it may take 7-10 days or longer to get there. It is really about your only choice because courier will probably not deliver to the village. I sent most things by USPS but sent a few important original documents via FedEx (guaranteed safe and arrives within 3 days usually). In case you are paranoid about some important original documents (like I was!) you can contact a friend or relative in a major city and send via FedEx or DHL, then they can hand deliver to your husband.

I always used DHL and I was very happy with the service/cost.

Living in Portland Or.. I have tried Fedex UPS and USPS...

Today actually I sent Jan a packet of documents... Set 5 arrival on Sept 10 ..weight was .41 oz cost of document mailing to Gujurat.. $51 ...

FEDEX quoted me $75.. and would get there Sept 13.

DHL quoted $55 and states could get there in 3 days but would not give a date.. and would add another fee to pick up .. and couldn't guarantee that the pick up was going to happen today ..

Jan sent me a package DTDC service weight of 12 lbs.. from Gujarat took it to service on the 23 of Aug where it sat till Aug 30.. it FINALLY arrived in NEW YORK Sept 4.. sat there again.. and this morning I found out that the AIR service that was paid for was not transfered here in USA and the package got transfered to UPS GROUND... NOOWWW the package that was due last friday is now not going to arrive until SEPT 11.... go figure..

seems someone on some side mixed up the tracking and it got put on the wrong system of ground instead of AIR... UPS at least is going to try and track it to see if it was their error or if it was DTDC and see if they can catch it in Illinois and get it on a plane sooner than surface travel.. When I talked to DTDC office in New York.. all i got was the runaround.. of.. the package was sent .. call this XXX number.. (which was not a working number) so thank goodness for UPS supervisor to do what she can to help me.. ..
