What was it?

What was it about your SO that just... hooked you? What was the thing that made you say "oh no... I've gone and fallen in love."?

I want to hear stories. Because as I'm sitting here, looking at a picture of my fiance, with that look on his face; that look that made me fall... and I'm missing him like crazy. I want to know: what was it that did it for you?

After I'd met him... we both came away from that, and people around us noticed. They said "she was IT for you, and you were IT for her" to him. And said the same to me. And it was true... I couldn't even look at anyone else without comparing them to him... and those other people always fell short.

So what's your story?

Wow.... that's kinda hard to say. To me it was a mix of things. But the thing that made us realize we should be together was that we had the same dreams. He became my best friend even being so far away from me and we hadn't even met... that had to be a sign we belonged together. We just fit! Willing to put up with each other's cr*p was a plus, the same amount of ambition was a plus too.

I've always wanted someone I could share everything with, and not be embarrassed of my silly dreams and thoughts. And so was he. We were comfortable around each other from the first day. We have the same kind of sense of humor, same taste on music..... we're just compatible and we realized that on the very first day we met online.

Finding someone that loves you even when you cant see what is so good about yourself is one of the best things in life and I found that in him.

Besides, how could I not fall in love with him after all those beautiful things he had to say.... and that kiss?? :luv:

it's so nice to have someone who loves you so much... :D and although you think "no one coud ever love like this:, it's also nice to know we're not as crazy for loving like this either.

Because he was so open about how he felt about me, and I could see it in his face. I knew that with someone who loved me like that and who I loved so much, it had to be right.

Oh, and that he's the kindest, sweetest, most gentle man I've ever had the pleasure to know.

Man, I love my husband... :luv: Sometimes I forget how much because everything else is so stressful, so thanks for reminding me! I needed that. (F)

I figured out I missed him terribly when we weren't talking and laughing together online. I knew at that point where my heart was headed. (L)

Then he made the 'mistake' of sending me a photo of himself after he had shoulder surgery so that I could see what the scar looked like. The photo was taken the day after surgery, so he was still in a good deal of pain (though a little loopy from the pain meds too). The way that he looked up at the camera, something in his eyes screamed out 'love me'. So I did. :)(L)

And yes, he thinks I'm a complete goofball for this.

To know he was the one for me, and that I wanted to marry him, that took a bit longer, ´cus in the first year of our relationship I was still trying to accept falling for someone so far away, and it seemed rather impossible that we´d stay together until we thought about marriage. But then during his 3rd visit to Brasil, we had this romantic dinner just the two of us, in Arraial do Cabo, and it hit me! I was looking at him talk, and I just knew I was going to marry that man, and that night we committed to each other, we promised we´d stick together until we found a way to be together forever. The next trip I went to PR, to meet his family, and after that we started discussing engagement plans and wedding plans (to live in US or to live in Brasil?).

We chose to live in Brasil, and continued to make plans of him learning portuguese so he could find work here, etc etc etc. But on my last year in Law School, my international Law teacher that works with the educational system, about diplomas from other countries, and foreigners working here, etc said we should marry in US, ´cus the paperwork would be easier for us, and that he was 100% sure my fiance wouldn´t be able to use his diploma here. So my fiance said he wouldn´t come and be supported by me, so we changed our plans for me to go to him, in Puerto Rico.

And we got engaged. But after that decision he went home and I started looking into the visa, and realized it was complicated. :P So I´m imagining how complicated it must be to get married here with a foreign. :P

When I think of the early days of our relationship, I think over and over of this one weekend, right before we really and truly became a couple. I had lost my wallet, including the calling card I had to talk to him (!), and I was just disgusted and annoyed...well, it was Super Bowl Sunday, and he cheered me up so I could enjoy the game, and we talked before the game, during halftime, and for a long time after it. I think he must have stayed up all night that night (just among the first of many for him!), and when I think of all the fun we had and how just...nice he was, and how happy I could be doing things and talking about things with him, I think that was when I really knew I had fallen hard. There were signs before then, but I don't believe it's any coincidence that we first said "I love you" a day later.

I'm rereading that and it sounds kind of silly, but that's our story and I'm sticking to it. (L)

We were together for a year prior to us meeting face to face (although I had been to Lebanon in my teen years and we were very good friends ... he liked me but I didn't like him I was too young). We were in love on the phone but were still thinking, "What will happen when I see him/her?"

So I have to say the entire first night spent together from the airport till the morning is what did it for me and him. I got off the plane so nervous that I started throwing up. I had brought clothes and makeup so I can change and "look good". Well because I was throwing up I felt too sick to do so. So when we finally get to the gate I think to myself "here goes nothing ... God please make this work". I have to say I looked like ****. We were stuck in London for three days, my hair was all messed up, no make up, my clothes were nasty, and my face was yellow from throwin up. Well as soon as that gate opened and he realized it was me (me, my mom, and my brothers) he jumped over the barrier picked me up and kissed me on the cheek. Then after the airport we went home and everyone went to sleep (my flight arrived so late), except him and I. We stayed up allllll night talking. I sat on the couch with his head in my lap. We talked allll night long of our hopes, dreams, and how happy we were. The next day (although we had no sleep the night before). We went out for our first date, he took me to some castle ruins and we had our first real kiss. It was amazing I swear I wanted to SCREAM because I was sooo happy. It was both of ours first kiss and I could have never pictured it better. At that moment I realized .... "he's the one ... thank you so much God".

Reunited and it feels so good ....
