I hope everyone enjoyed there weekend. I've had a bad one. Saturday night when coming home from work, i'm right on my street almost home, and i see 2 big dogs, fighting with a small dog from my street. I honk my horn many times, and opened my door, but a neighbor told me, stay inside the car! one of the big dogs came around my car as if waiting for me to come out! I called 911 and while explaining what was going on, the dispatcher must have heard the horror on my voice because i kept saying they're killing the poor little dog!! 2 police cars came, animal control called me and asked me about the situation, i begged them to come quickly (person from animal control told me that the people who deal with this are not working today (saturday night) but that the police officers would know what to do, to be calm). i told him i'm NOT calm because we have killer dogs in a community filled with children. Nevertheless he said to let the police handle it for now. Well the police waited until the dogs killed the little dog, and then the dogs circled our cars, went home! One of the police officers got out of his car and went to talk to a neighbor. the other started to leave and i told him, heyyy the dogs went up that street, go check with where they live. so he went and came back to inform me that the dogs' owner said that the dogs never left her home!! hmmm ... well today is a holiday so animal control is not open, but tomorrow inshaAllah i'm calling them to make sure they do something about this situation. The good thing was that it was raining so the kids from our street were inside and not playing out , or this would have been more tragic.

And yesterday, i received a call from mom telling me that my cousin had just passed away. She was sick, but still it came as a shock because she was about my age and I just can't get over it.

Anyway, i'm sorry for laying out my personal problems here, but i needed to just get this all out because, in some way, it's therapeutic.

I would want to sue the city.. If i was the small dogs owner...

They just sat back and waited for the big dogs to finish??? thats messed up!!

I'm afraid to ask what kind of dogs the big ones were... I'm a big advocate the Pit Bulls get a bad Rep

I'm glad u didn't get out of the car. Poor little dog though. *sniff* I hope they do something about those brutes.

They weren't pit bulls, they were 'chow chow'. I personally don't believe that a specific kind of dog (example: pit bull) are dangerous. It's the way they are raised that makes ANY animal a potential danger. I love all animals, (i have a golden retriever myself). It's the owners that raise animals so dangerous and then, when their pets run off and do something wild, they don't want to own up to it.

The small dog was everyone's dog! He showed up years ago, and would stay at anyone's house. One of the neighbors got him a collar. When my dog was in heat, he would be the first one in front of my house! I would leave some water and food cause he would stay for days trying to figure out how he could get to her! Anyway, we got together that saturday (the neighbors who saw what happened) and buried him. I spent the whole night crying.

I will find a way to get someone to do something about those animals!...Funny, when i say this, i think of 4 animals...the 2 dogs and the 2 policemen who did nothing to make us safe!

wow that sounds so hard and sad to have seen!!!I can't believe they did nothing!!! I hope you feel better soon. Poor little guy. Sorry to hear about your cousin to, what a hard period for you big hugs from california
