Stupid question # what'snext...

Nowhere in my packet 4 does it mention proof of bona fide relationship, but since my panic is increasing..... Just in case I have selected:

1. Joint bank statements

2. Pictures of us in different social ocassions, our wedding, bro's wedding in Mexico, B's parents visit to Canada, etc.

3. Videotaped sex-sessions (ok HAD to say that and diminish my anxiety)

I have no darn clue what else to put in there.

LOL @ #3! :P

Not sure if you'll need it but you could get letters from friends or family too. Do you have any utility bills with both your names on it? Lease with both names or at least one of you on it and the other listed as an occupant? Postmarked envelopes with both your names on it?

I brought this to show proof of bona fide to my AOS interview. Maybe it can give you some ideas of what else to throw in there.

- photos (wedding photos -- just us and the justice of the peace, no friends and family present, a few with my friends, a few with mutual friends and lots of just us together on various visits and after my move here -- we have none with family -- you can see my hair get longer in each set of photos)

- joint chequing account statement with both our names (we pay bills out of it)

- power bill in both our names

- gas bill in both our names (there's a typo on my last name but too late to change it for the AOS interview)

- vet receipt account in both our names for my dog

- 2 apartment rental leases where he is the lease holder and I am listed as the occupant (they wouldn't put me as a joint lease holder because I didn't have an SSN)

- health insurance cards showing that I am on his health plan through his employer (plus any other documentation we have for it)

- his cellphone showing that he has a 2nd one (Verizon who does our home line refused to put my name on it or the cell bill without an SSN. Have one now but won't be done in time for the next billing cycle)

- wedding invitation from his friend addressed to both of us

- letters from friends and family (4 from mutual friends, 1 from his mom, 1 from his brother and 1 from his former roommate)

Sorry I have no suggestions, these sound good and if you present the video first they prob won't ask for anything else!?

It would make things soooo much easier... ;)

Looks like you've got it covered. The fact that you've done this much work on the case means that you are in a bone fide marriage. The totality of the evidence would sway anyone. I think number three is a good idea, but I had no idea that Len looked like Jenna Jameson or Bren like Ron Jeremy.

Who the blip are those people? Man, I am in the wrong business.

I just added the insurance thingies - will photocopy our AB health care cards (same account) and our Blue Cross cards as well.

Thanks all for putting up with my insanity. It just seems like to fracking much right now.

Love y'all, L.

holy ###### Len, you're going to give yourself an ulcer. you'll be fine. you've know each other for a while, lived together, etc. I'd say (cause it seems like you might go overboard) limit your proof of relationship to no more than a 1 inch (that's 2.5cm, you've got to start thinking in stupid English measurments now ;) ) Anyway, no more than a 1 inch stack of papers. they're most likely not going to look at any of the proof of relationship, so there's no point in throwing your back out carrying all your sex tapes.

met summer 1999, summer 2000 hooked up-whoo hoo summer fling

summer fling failed to fizzle, married 2003

I-130 mailed 12/15/03

4/1/04 no word from NE contacted senators office, app found

NOA1 4/13/04

Gave up on ridiculously long US process-started Canadian

12/4/04 submitted app

LSS app returned because of missed signatures, lost in transit, resubmitted in June

9/28/05 landed, yippie

10/4/05 fly back to US to "finish up Master's" lose mind and switch to PhD

Damn it back to the US process

3/something/2005 finally get NOA2, no idea why it took so long

4/15/07 get case approval from NVC

8/9/07 Montreal here we come

Dude. This is an American-Canadian relationship. There's more fraud risk going the OTHER way.

The only way this interview could get MORE rubber stamp is if they actually made the visa out of rubber. They practically assume you're a legitimate couple. C. says the interviewer in Vancouver wasn't even really listening to his answers as he was asking the next question on the list before C. had really finished. Yours is essentially an AOS interview, so I think misa's advice is excellent.

-Proof of trusting each other with the money (i.e., comingling assets, bank statements)

-Proof of living at the same address (lease, deed, bills coming to the house in his name and your name, AB health care.)

-Proof of being a bona fide couple (your pictures are good for this.)

C'est ca.

Yep, ur far too freaking out,lol I'm sure that you read of read through the many cr-1/ir-1 reviews, and 99.99999% of time do not even ask for evidence!! If they have its been like pictures. I brought evidence and was never asked for it. I brought plane receipts, Mywife already had me on her insurance policy, and pictures. The interview is VERY quick. So quick that one can fart, and ur out before the smells dispenses, so don't fart, thats my only advice. It will go well.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Lenina, you'll be fine! :) You have one thing in your favour with your case that most of us don't have until we get our visas -- you live with your husband. :)

One thing I forgot to mention that I also submitted was envelopes addressed to both of us with postmarks. They were actually the envelopes from the letters our friends and family sent us but I put that in there too.

I think you have plenty though but if it makes you feel better, scour your place again for anything with both your names on it including email invitations, party invitations, magazine subscriptions, vet records showing the same account, etc.

Hang in there! I know this is stressful. I almost gave myself an aneurisym TWICE through my K3 and my AOS.

*HUGS*

LEN, you are highly educated and in a very stable relationship. You teach at an institution of higher learning and you are in possession of a graduate degree issued in Canada. Why should the fact that you are a Mexican national be an issue? It takes pressure to make diamonds and you will shine on the 26th. Now throw your hat on the floor, start dancing around it and sing "la cucuracha" at the top of you lungs :P

Seriously you should do some deep breathing exercises and repeat the following mantra, "serenity now, serenity now, serenity now."
