Most embassies accept a certified copy of the divorce order but some have been known to ask for a copy of everything best to take it with you just in case and if there were children involved they need a copy of the custody order. :)

I have seen people get RFE's for not including the entire thing. So, I plan to send all of it, including the 'who gets what' part. They may not care, but if they do and they don't have it, I don't want to waste two or three weeks on an RFE.

You DO NOT need an entire copy of your divorce decree. The only thing that is required to qualify for a K1 is that you are free to marry; as in divorced, single, or widowed, and that you've met your partner face to face within two years previous to filing your petition. I've never heard of any consulate ever asking to see a copy of the divorce decree, as they are not entitled to see it. Some choose to use it. I'm of the mind of providing what's neccessary, but not more. Be organized. You can request a certified copy of your "Divorce Certificate," which is a single page, from facilties that service your state vital statistics.

We sent our entire divorce settlements and avoided the RFE. We were asked for the originals at the interview and mine was gone through page by page, especially the part of child custody to show that my daughter was to move with me when the time came. The decrees needed to be certified.

A certified copy is fine. They don't want to know the gory details of the entire divorce of who gets what, etc. Plus, I have been told the more papers you send, the longer it may take because every paper has to be looked over. I don't know if this is fact or not, but it makes sense.

Divorce Decree for whom? The USC or the beneficiary? :time:

For the USC, a copy only needs to be sent in with the I-129F. For the Beneficiary, a copy needs to be sent in with the I-129F and originals shown at the Interview.

For me, the USC, I sent in a copy of the first and last pages and had no problem with the USCIS. My fiancee has never been married before.
