Invalid Marrieage

Hello, I just found out that my girl friends marriage back in the philippines was I believe a null marriage ceremony. What I mean is that the town records show no record of it. They show no marriage contract. I was really worried that we were have to go thru annullment proceedings here. But to make sure about this, is there a national center in which holds all marriage contracts or is from town to town? How would I find out for sure that the marriage never was recorded or taken in a legal sense? I know they had a ceremony and everything but there is still no marriage number. Anyone else ever run into this? Here aunt did mention that there was no record in the NSO database.

Hi There Martinbr,

In the Philippines, there is a certificate called a CENOMAR which means "Certificate of No Marriage". Ask one for her - this will certify that she has not been married before. You can get this from NSO for a very minimal fee. This is a requirement for marriages in the Philippines.
