NOA1 Question

Hi all,

Someone mentioned that they saw on the USCIS website that their application had been received before they received the NOA1 in the mail... the only form I can find requires a receipt number... how do you find this info?

Also, will the NOA1 go to my lawyer or to me?

Hi ! You need to check with your bank if the cheque has been cashed. If it has then the receipt number or the acknowledgement number will be at the back of the cheque. This number has 3 alphabets and 10 digits.

Thanks very much, that's helpful. Is that the receipt number then that I use for the USCIS site?

My lawyer wrote the check, so I guess I will have to call and bug him again. Thanks!

YOUR LAWYER IS CHOICE OF ADDRESS OF AGENT SO USICIS WILL SEND HIM THE RECEIPT NUMBER OR U CAN CALL IT USCIS CASE NUMBER. you can then use it on the uscis website, set up automatic email alerts and follow up your case. Please follow up your attorney closely as they tend to be careless and waste important working days of the week. 1 day late means your case can be pushed behind by a month as USCIS get thousands of applications in one day

USCIS Application and Petition Receipting Update

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) advises customers that, due to a tremendous increase in the number of applications filed, processing of fee payments and entry of cases into our tracking system is behind schedule. As a result, applicants can expect notices of receipt to be delayed. USCIS is working hard to deal with the increased volume.

Delay in fee processing and data entry will not affect an applicant’s Change of Status or Extension of Stay eligibility if all other eligibility requirements are met. USCIS continues to process Premium Processing Service requests within 15 days.

USCIS will honor the actual date that an application was received in our mailroom; this date will be indicated on the receipt (in the Received Date box) when Form I-797, Notice of Action, is mailed. Until this situation is resolved, USCIS will provide these weekly updates on progress in issuing receipt notices to our customers. We appreciate your understanding.
