Hello everyone. Well the date is almost here. Our AOS interview is September 5th in the a.m. I'm a bit nervous about sitting in front of someone who will judge my life with me and my husband. But I'm prepared. I know a lot of you are waiting for your husbands to get their visas, but I just had to post here since all my nerve wracking visas have been here, lol. I hope all goes well, I believe I have just about everything I need. There are some flaws that will just have to be explained during the interview, but to me they're minor. Hope the counselor feels the same way. Anyway, I will post after interview and tell you all what happened.

Bring LOTS of pictures--they never even asked to look at our paperwork! The woman just looked through our 3 photo albums while Simo and I answered questions and explained our history together. Very easy!

Good luck--and try to relax!

Andrea,

We were so nervous as well. The guy who interviewed us was so serious. He flipped through my husband's case file to make sure EVERYTHING was there. He swore Hicham in and asked the obligatory questions (when did you get married? etc). Then he asked if we brought anything we would like to add. I told him what we brought and he said the tax returns were great along with the proof that both of our names were on the condo title. All in all it took about ten minutes. Afterward, I realized that this was one of the easiest parts of the whole journey. Just breathe deep and go in with your evidence. I am sure you will be fine.

Yes, I agree, it was all very anticlimactic and pretty easy. Our interviewer commented on the thoroughness and organization of our previous submissions ( by the time you get to this interview they have a copy of your COMPLETE file all the way back to the 129f original app) :)

Dont worry!

it can be very easy and most coupples do sail through. I wouldnt borrow trouble and worry too much, but you do mention some flaws that need to be explained?

They may be minor. They may be major, but since you do not list them out, it is hard to tell. Without having any specifics, I would be sure that you have solid evidence in hand that builds your case as your explain the flaws. It's about building the whole picture for the officer.

But as I said, most couples worry but then sail right through. USCIS is not looking to judge anyone's relationship, tey only want to see the validity of the marriage and the burden of proof is on the couple to show.

Well the flaws may be this: medical. He did his medical in Jordan in January, 2006. They took it at the airport in August, 2006. He never re-did his medical which they do request after it's over a year when you filed AOS. The other flaw is, we have pics, but not a whole lot of them. Then, the checking account, it doesn't show my husband as joint because they don't do joint. He had a problem being that he was new here opening a checking account. He's on my account, but since it's not a regular checking account you can get with good credit, it's a prepaid checking account, I hope this doesn't reflect a problem. Long story with this situation that lead me this way from a head on collision. Hurts too much to talk about. Anyway, that's it. Everything else has our names on it.

Okay so now I understand why you are nervous. But i do thik there are some ways at looking at the evidence in a way that will make you more confident going in.

First the medical, AOS requires a medical , but the medical that was done for the original visa is valid if it is less than one year old. I guess we can hope that they do not notice the expiration date since they did not RFE you for it? *crossing fingers* BUT they wont deny the aos and start deportation proceedings I think..I think they would just require a new medical...which would suck because of the time and expenses. On the other hand, it is an easy obstacle to overcome (unlike proving the validity of a relationship)

REgarding the evidence you need to show a valid relationship- a joint checking account is not required, but it is commonly used because it is a good item to show. So itdoes sound like you have lots of other thigs that show you share the resident and have intermingled your lives. I could say don't worry then, but without seeing the papers in front of me, it hard to know. Try looking at all your papers from teh eye of the USCIS and someone who knows nothing about you. What conclusions would you make? You are probably good with paperwork.

I know this process feels overwhelming or unpredictable or nervewracking , but go in with all your paperwork in order, unerstand the rules as best you can, be prepared and try not to let the horror stories make you worry too much. Good luck!
