I just did my biometrics appointment for the I-485 I sent in on July 25 on Friday. I have some small questions:

For a long time I couldnt track my case status. I was finally put through on the phone to an immigration officer who told me she would put in a service request and I should be able to track my case after. But amazingly enough I was able to start tracking by the end of the day...... So I see that my case was received on Aug 8 (not July 25) at the National Benefits Center (which is MSC right?)

1) I never received a receipt notice even though the system and the immigration officere told me it was sent out on Aug 8. Is there any information on these that I should know about? They did tell me for sure that it was not returned as undeliverable and that my case is still in line ot be processed. But is there anything relevant on the notice that I cannot learn from reading VJ or documentation on the USCIS website?

2) So what happens now? When does my application get touched again after I did the biometrics on Friday (Aug 31)? Shoudl I be worried if a "touch" does not appear in the next few days?

3) At what point does the case actually get to my local office? Is the date and time of the interview (if I need one) determined at MSC? I assume I will need an interview since I am adjusting from an H1-B not from a fiancee/spousal visa like many others.

4) How far in advance do people usually get notified about an interview? I can see the interview dates on the VJ timelines, but I am not too sure how far ahead of time you actually get told about the date of the interview.

Thanks for your help in advance

Yes.

1) I never received a receipt notice even though the system and the immigration officere told me it was sent out on Aug 8. Is there any information on these that I should know about? They did tell me for sure that it was not returned as undeliverable and that my case is still in line ot be processed. Many NOA1s are delayed due to the sheer number of applications. Read through this forum and you will come across amny members in the same situation as you.

2) So what happens now? When does my application get touched again after I did the biometrics on Friday (Aug 31)? Shoudl I be worried if a "touch" does not appear in the next few days?

You might not get touched at all right up until approval. Others get loads. It's nothing to worry about.

3) At what point does the case actually get to my local office? Is the date and time of the interview (if I need one) determined at MSC? I assume I will need an interview since I am adjusting from an H1-B not from a fiancee/spousal visa like many others.

Once you get transferred to a local office they will allocate you with an interview date and time.

4) How far in advance do people usually get notified about an interview? I can see the interview dates on the VJ timelines, but I am not too sure how far ahead of time you actually get told about the date of the interview.

It differs between office to office, normally you get some notice, simply so you can gather your docs together.

Wow oddly enough I did get them today. I didnt realize there was mail delivery on Saturday's but my wife checked the mailbox and we had 2 receipt notices one for my I-485 and the other for the I-130 she filed on my behalf. So looks like thing are on track. Thanks for your help......

Don't worry, your NOA1's will come. Mine had the same August 8th date and I received mine on August 31st. They're just delayed as the previous poster mentioned.
