May not be worth pursuing, but I know Lal was in the K1 filing forum last week trying to sort it all out. Nothing happened I don't think, tho.

As Lal said there are multiple threads - 3 April filer thread locations, 2 March filers threads, a few others that definately overlap.

I hardly ever go in there, altho if you peek it is a hotbed of hysteria & misinformation.

I saw this thread yesterday:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=85759

THis girl is confused because in this thread:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...1562&st=223

The thread updater gives filers NUMBERS. Now newbies think that these numbers are the numbers in order that they are processed!!! Page 16 of that thread is all about what number they are & how depressed they are about it. Nevermind it doesn't count!

Just saying that forum could use some serious cleanup.

Looks like the threads you are pointing to above were straightened out by you. In general though I undertand that better organization and greater amounts of people reading the guides is a good thing.

As for the Waiting for a NOA2 from VSC/CSC threads; those are lists that started based on VisaJourney.com timelines. Originally, I started it for K-1s for VSC, but it grew popular, and expanded to K-1s & K-3s for VSC & CSC. Since they are separate lists, we have two threads.

Sure, the number can be confusing to new people, but thats why there are lots of posts by members explaining whats going on. The world is a confusing place. I doubt consoldiating threads into one will reduce the confusion.

I think she was hoping to get some more feedback before actually doing anything.

I am still thinking through some things that were suggested in the thread, in PM and previously here in Site Discussion before. Certainly I agree things could be smoother in there :star:

I don't understand why there need to be lists based upon VJ timelines. Does the timeline data (as presented at the moment) not serve that function? Does the database need rewritten?

I'm not trying to be rude, but why are we re-inventing the wheel?

Filer threads are running rampant everywhere. They are starting to rise to the surface of the AOS forum as well. What is it about the data collection on this site that is causing people to try and create something else?

We are not recreating the database. We are simply creating another report off of it. The report we use is based off of the following query:

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list...ll&dfile=No

After that, it is formatted a bit and deduped; and records not interesting to the group are filtered out. Certain records are moved from the CSC list to VSC if they happen to fit that small period of time after direct filing was announced.

I know that the list has made it easier for people to see where they are in relation to other VisaJourney.com filers; and presents the data in a manner which is easier to use then the reports. Anyone who wants to take part in the list needs to update their VisaJourney.com timeline.

If the list is offensive to people, I can stop posting it - the purpose was to keep people occupied while waiting for NOA2s. Other then this thread, I haven't received any complaints yet; typically I get about 3-4 messages every week thanking me for continuing to update the lists.

The list is not offensive to me. It is however, of some concern.

I've been trying (for months now) to get the point across that perhaps data being collected BY SITE ADMIN is not giving users the information they seek. If that is the case, I personally would prefer to see Admin doing what you are doing.

Also based upon my experience here, I am always concerned if people spend too much time comparing their case to others insofar as processing time is concerned. Each case IS different. Nothing would please me more than to see petitioners spending more time learning about the NEXT step in their immigration process, rather than focusing on the case as it sits waiting for its turn on someone's desk.

I would simply prefer to see Admin take the reins back regarding collection of data. I don't believe it is our place to do that. It is our place, however, to ask Admin to re-evaluate the information they are giving us if it not serving members needs.

we have had various user operated lists during the time that I have been here on VJ... so I really don't see the big problem...

Marilyn hun, can we have a discussion about this without you thinking there is a 'problem'? I don't think anyone is arguing......................

I didn't think anyone was arguing... I was just trying to contribute...

it sounds like the lists are not going over well with some people and I was just mentioning that they have been around as long as I can remember maybe there are a few more lists now then there were back then...

I can gladly disclose the specific steps I take to generate the reports. In fact, I am pretty sure there is a post elsewhere where I discuss what I do step by step.

And I definitely would not complain if the list was updated automatically. In fact, I'm wondering how I will manage to update it when I will be travelling in India for two weeks.

I would be happy to improve the visualization of the timeline data. If we want more/less information or the way it is displayed changed let me know :).
