So here they are, Clinton, Obama, Edwards and the rest of the sorry Democrats officially turning their back on Florida. Just how do they expect to carry the state in the general election next year? Those fools. Let's hope for a decent Republican running that I can vote for.

At a time when leading Republican candidates already are campaigning feverishly to build Florida support, the Democrats' surprise move will do nothing to help them ultimately win Florida's 27 electoral votes in the general election in 2008.

The fact that people still claim there is a difference between the two, democrat and republican, is laughable. Big business rules this country and could care less which flavor of corruption is in office.

I'm sure Democrats are still bitter about what happened in Florida, but I'm sure they will get around to campaigning there at some point (even though it is a major state to win).

Clinton, Giuliani hold big leads in Florida

WASHINGTON (CNN) – A new Quinnipiac poll out of Florida Thursday shows Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani each hold a substantial lead over their competitors in the Sunshine State.

Clinton registers 43 percent in the new poll of registered Florida Democrats. Sen. Barack Obama comes in second with 18 percent, followed by former Sen. John Edwards at 12 percent. The sample included 416 Democrats and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 4.8 percent.

Meanwhile on the Republican side, Giuliani stands at 30 percent, followed by Sen. John McCain and former Sen. Fred Thompson, both at 14 percent. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is at 12 percent and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee registers 8 percent. The sample included 394 Republicans and caries a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percent.

The poll also finds a very closely-fought race in the Sunshine State should Clinton and Giuliani each be their party's presidential nominee. Giuliani edges out Clinton in the poll, 46 percent to 43 percent.

Florida officially moved up its primary to Jan. 29, facing potential sanctions from both parties for doing so.

Well, whoever the Democratic candidate is going to be, Florida Democrats will not have had any say in it. That'll make it hard for whoever the candidate is - certainly one of the folks that officially boycotted the state's Democrats - will have a bit of a rough time getting folks mobilized and excited. And the Republican contender will make sure to remind folks that Florida meant nothing to whoever the Democratic contender will be. And it'll be a true and irrefutable statement. As Howard Dean is said to have made clear: The Democrats will find a way to screw this up. The nonsense they play here in Florida is a good start of a major screw up knowing that nobody will move into the White House without winning Florida. Really, the only chance I see a Democrat having down here is if the Republicans nominate a no-go like Thompson, Paul or McCain.

I ain't no Democrat but usually lean that way. This time around, someone would have to have a very good argument for me to even consider voting for a candidate that effectively declared the state meaningless.
