what to bring to the interview at the embassy?

Hi,

our case is on the last part of the NVC process. Hopefully the case will be finished at the NVC soon and we can have our interview. Our case will be standard NVC processing, i.e., that we sent only the part I of DS 230 and the biographic page of the passport.

There is a list of items that the applicant should obtain for the interview, on NVC (dept of state) website, including things such as birth certificate, police record, etc.

My question is, what are some things that people bring to the interview other than what's on this list? For example, I hear about people bringing photos of the wedding or from when they are dating, etc. Would it also be good to have copies of all the forms that we have submitted? Tax return forms from the last 3 years?

If there are things like that, I'd like my husband to start preparing these so he can send me the materials in time for the interview.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

You will be supplied a list of all the required documents from the Embassy.

Other than that you should collect anything that establishes your relationship. Copies of passport pages showing spousal visits, photographs, copies or actual used airline tickes, copies of emails, letters, chat sessions, phone records, money tansfers, cards, dried flowers(just kidding) and anything else you can think of to prove the relationship that you have, They may not ask for anything, very little or all that you take. It is a very important matter in some countries and not so in others. Be Prepared.

Hi, thank you for your suggestions, mike&elena!

Even if the list may differ from embassy to embassy, it would be nice to have some idea of what's on the list from the embassies (other than what's on the NVC list, mentioned above). So if anyone have gone to the interview or received the list from your embassy/consulate, if you could let me know what they asked for, that would be great. Maybe they won't differ much afterall. My husband would like to use this "wait" time to start putting things together to send to me (or at least to start thinking about it).

Also anything else that are not required by the embassy, but would be good to bring as a precaution?

Thanks!

Main thing is to keep piling up evidence of a bonafide marriage. Keep writing snail mails even tho your hubby probably hates doing so!

Make lots of phone calls [short ones if short of $s] with records, money receipts, emails, chat records and screen prints.

Have him get life insurance made out to you.[He can always cancell it later].

Get joint bank accounts and anything else showing you guys are for real and not scammers.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Our consulate is Manila, Philippines, and our interview requirements are the ff:

Birth certificate

Marriage certificate

Marriage termination documentation

Police clearance (national and local)

Proof of ongoing relationship

>>ex. emails, pictures taken recently, phone bills, receipts, money transfers bills, joint accts, joint ownership, etc.

2x2 colored photo pics (bring at least 2, just in case they needed it)

medical exam results

IRS transcripts/ Photocopy of W2s and Tax returns for the last 3 years

Bottom line is, although some of these documents have already been submitted with your original USCIS application and or NVC, just bring them with you just in case they need to verify it. It is better to be overprepared at the time of the interview, than to be asked to return to supply more evidence.

Good luck!

hi! we've got same USEM, mine's in Manila as well. Actually im about to send my petitioner my DS230 for him to send it to NVC. NVC requires my police clearance, NBI clearance, marriage and birth certs along with the DS230. If I would send these civil documents to them by this september, would they be askin for it again on the interview?

and i got another question, in DS230 33a. My husband in US received a letter from IRS indicating my ITIN. Is this number the same as SSN needed in 33a of DS230? I dont have SSN yet.

your reply would be highly appreciated. thanks!
