Bringing my dog into the US

I'm bringing Anya, my Siberian husky, with me to the U.S.

I already took her today to have her shots, and I know she needs to have a medical exam before traveling (less than 10 days before the trip)

anyone have experience with arriving to the US with a dog?

what happens when you get to the airport?

Any recommendations on how to make her more comfortable for the flight?

Do I need to have her health certificate translated?

I'm also worried that I might be delayed in customs and I'd like to provide instructions so that Justin can also pick the dog up (it's going to be a 10 hour flight so I want her out of the cage asap...if I get delayed let's say 2 hours, I'd hate for her to be waiting all that time in her cage...)

Get a prescription for valium or something similiar.

Give guy that takes the dog a "bonus" to take extra care.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

I read that American Airlines does not allow sedated pets on the plane :(

I took my 12 year old dog with me. My Vet told me its not good to sedate them on the plane.

My dog fit underneath my seat and she never made a sound. She was so good, when the pilot was coming out of the flight deck he asked what was in my bag. I told him my dog. He said he didnt even know a dog was on the flight..........lol. They didnt even ask me what was in my bag when I went thru Customs. They never asked me for any papers on her. But you do need to have them with you.

I had it in English, they were really only concerned with the rabies certificate. Yes sedation is dangerous for long flights because the dog may sleep through the need to rehydrate. The only thing I did was not feed him ( torture for a Lab :) but I figured for one day out of his life better to be a bit hungry than sitting for hours in his poo. He had water and a long lasting edible chew bone. Door to Door it was about 24 hours and he was only a bit damp. ( put a nappy liner under his bedding) No poop.

Right, mine has glaucoma so it's not safe to sedate her either.

That's great that your dog was so well behaved...that won't be anya for sure!! I bet she'll do the annoying half hawl-half cry high pitch husky thing the entire 10 hours
