I think that i am man of my own now since i have my own family but my mum wont see it that way she wants me to ask her permission to do stuffs i really dont like it that way VJers please what should i do, should i just go ahead i change the travel date or just leave it and make her see reasons that i dont want to stay over till the end of sept....Any piece of advice would be appreciated.

You have to do what you feel best. Only you can determine which relationship is more important and act appropriately.

Best of luck!

Your mom must be feeling lonely - or wondering about when she will see you again. Parents are like that: never mind how old one is, we will always be their children. Make YOUR decision and spend as much time with your mother and family as possible: reassure her that you love her and will be in touch always.

Good luck in your journey, L.

Your dilemma is definitely one of "culture" from your home country.

It is hard for me to imagine that I would be worried about "disobeying" my parents once I am an adult myself, but if I were to have to deal with this problem, I would most likely go with the side of my partner (spouse/fiance).

I would explain to your Mother that you are anxious to be with your partner (naturally) and that you will write, email, call, send photos regularly once you are settled in.

Good luck.

Definitely a tough situation. Only you can decide what is best for you. If it were me, I would do what my spouse and I had agreed on. IMO, once you are married, you make decisions between you and your spouse, not you and your mother.

GOOD LUCK

I agree with what you say, plus also take into concideration that the plane ticket has been paid for and to change it will cost more money.

OP, perhaps by taking action of your own, your mum will see you for the man that you are.

What I think is that you should spend as much time as you can with your Mother and always reasure her that you will always love and be there for her......Make sure she knows just what she means to and how much you love her......Explaine to her that the ticket has already been paid for and you cant return it.......Try to ease her mind as much as you can and let her know the sooner you get here and get setteled the better it is for everbody.......Not to mention that your wife wants you here as well.......Remember you only have one mother and no one can take her place......This is going to be a difficult transition for everyone involved.....However you are a married man now with a wife that is depending on you........As much as you love your mother your wifes feelings come first......Maybe you could have your wife also talk with your mom and let her reasure her that her son will be in good hands with a wife that loves him so very much and also a wife that will make sure he keeps in touch with his mother.....making sure she is taken care of.......Im sure she just is afraid that you will forget about her........

I think what everyone has said here is some good stuff! I know how it must be difficult for you and your mum but you should go be with your wife as you are a married man now. Just reassure your mum that everything will be alright she probably is scared of losing her son but ultimately you must do what is best for you.

Take care and Good Luck. Let us know how it goes.

I sort of agree with what people are saying.

It's not about the mother anymore...it's about the other half and parents should understand that

On the other hand, it will change anyways...It doesnt really matter if you leave in less than two weeks or in 3 weeks. I know the wife is discouraged but she's going to have you for herself forever.

Might not hurt to do this one last thing like you mom wants

Things will change from now on whether your mom wants it or not..

At least it's my opinion

Removal of conditions...

Thank you all for your kind advices. My mum has agreed for me to leave on the 16th after i spoke with her and re-assured her that i will not forget her when i get to the states and that i will send pictures back home and stuffs like that....I guess she just want to spend more and more time with her because she knows i am going to be away from her for a very long time plus i am her only son so that was the reason why she wanted me to stay until the end of the month........All the same, thank guys for all the infos and ideas from the start of our visa journey, before and after the interview thank you, thank you, thank you guys. For all of you guys waiting for your interview dates and to those that have interview dates already(ara & co) i wish you all the best, i will keep you in my prayers....

Best Wishes to all VJers,

Jamil
