affadavits from friends or family, which is better....

We have to file our 751 soon and I'm working on getting affadavits. Which is better, to get them from friends, co-workers, or family members? Or does it really matter who wrote them, as long as you have a lot of supporting evidence.

Also, it doesn't say these need to be notorized, but should they be?

If you are going to include affidavits, yes, they need to be notarized. There has been much discussion in this forum about "to notarize or not" and "to include them or not", I humbly advise to go searching for those threads and you will get lots of information.

You will get the advice here that if you have a ton of evidence, affidavits aren't necessary. Personally, I included them as another piece of the puzzle, so to speak. The ones I included were from our pastors at church (husband/wife team) and friends.

We did not include any letters from friends or family..... we were told by immigration lawyer that they are poor evidence and it is much better to have a good selection of evidence showing joint finances and intermingled life...

Perhaps, but maybe the answer depends on the credibility of your friends and family. If you happen to live across the street from an immigration judge who sees you coming and going and acting like a married couple, then get an affidavit from that judge, regardless of whether you're close friends or not.

If you know someone else with unimpeachable credibility, no motivation to lie on your behalf, and knowledge of the bona fide nature of your relationship, consider getting an affidavit from that person.

I'd think that fraudulent couples would have a slightly easier time coming up with a non-family-member to write a fraudulent affidavit, but I'm sure some have had false affidavits written (or purported to be written) by family members. Almost any fraudulent couple could probably find someone or another to write something that looked good, which is why affidavits usually aren't particularly convincing.
