Has anyone brought over the dependent child later with the K-2 visa ?????

Does the child need to be present with the parent at the initial interview or can another interview be set up with the parent and the child ???? What am I asking is will the K-1 visa be issued at the first interview to the finace and then the K-2 issued another time for the child ???

Good luck to all

No, the child does not need to be present at the K-1's interview. They do need to be listed on the I-129F as a child of the K-1 though. They also need to be issued their K-2 and enter the US within one year of the K-1 applicant being issued their visa.

The "follow to join" child will have a totally seperate application, although based on the K-1 petition from which they derive status.

So, yes, the K-1 would be issued for the parent and the K-2 could be applied and received later, so long as it is within a year of the K-1 getting theirs.

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

HI SPUNKY,

As goes with my K1 processing, my 4 yr old son was included in the petition of K1 when my fiance applied it. And when i received packet from the embassy, I bring along my son to Medical exams bcos i need to pay fee for hm as well and my son needs a vaccinations evaluation as well. So i payed medical fee for me and for my son. When im about to my interview day, i called the embassy and inquire that if i need to bring along my son to my interview schedules, says theres no age limit on interview, whoever comes along to the petition should be present in the interview.

So in Manila - US Embassy they are requiring to be present K2 applicant, becos when my son attended interview with me, even in his young age he was been interviewed , meaning asked some qeustions as well. But morely his questioned were been answered by my son and also explainably by all the pictures i presented to the embassy about proof of meeting between my fiance and me and my son.

And spunky as ive read to other thread your having difficulties in processing of documents, i guess you should properly organized it first, if it hits ur interview schedule you shud asked for longer schedule but depends on when u cud get the documents right and complete. Its more nicer to be organize and passed, than attending interview but you well known your missing some proofs or docs...

Goodluck!

SPunky... again..... to answer ur question

If your fiancee son is included in the petition already, i guess u should deal with it.

But if ur thinking of disregarding it, well the K2 process is not in your end as i know ..... asked for other opinion... but to my understanding if K2 is need to process it should be with your fiancee application. She should be the one applying for the K2 process for her son, but i guess she could do that is she got already her permanent status...or have green card already. and of cors that will be long time.

You could go for K1 only for her, and she could process K2 when she got greencard. But i would suggest since her son K2 is included already in her K1 processing, why not go for it ... and organized all the documents...

regards

rebelheart
