People take this stuff way too seriously IMO. Its not as though being gay is (or should be) a criminal offence. I don't get why people get so up in arms about what consenting adults get up to in their own home.

...And to the homophobe who insinuates that homosexuality may be a birth defect -- let me say that I have a bit of experience with that sort of thing...

Evdogg412:

You don’t have to beat around the bush here…

I am the only person who wrote anything about birth defect and it was a question to a statement. So you need to read more intently before making emotional innuendos because your son is #######. I empathize with you because I’m sure that it was hard to deal with at first. Moving on, I’m not homophobic and I’m sick and tired of you gay rights or pro-gay folks labeling those who do not agree with the “gay lifestyle” and “gay rights” or “gay marriage” as homophobic. I’m pro heterosexual. It’s a preference and a right to oppose that in which I do not like respectfully and within the umbrella of the law. As I wrote before, it’s a gay person’s right and those who support their “socially deviant behavior” to fight for what they believe. That is part of the essence of a free democratic society. You prefer to accept it and I do not. Like you have a guy relative, I do too (two cousins but one died last year).

I don’t like neon colored clothes. It’s a personal preference because they are too bright and looks dirt ugly to me. I do not like the idea, concept, or reality of two men or two women being together. It’s not a fear of gay people. I simply don’t like nor accept their lifestyle as my own. Does that make me treat them any less human then the next person?

The answer is HELL NO!

Cheers!!!

I dunno. If I went out of my way just to insist I had nothing against black people, I just found them disgusting and unnatural and socially deviant and that I didn't hate them, I was just pro-white people, I think I'd rightly be called a racist.

By our laws, you have that right to do so as long as your actions cause no harm to other people financially, socially, and/or economically. Unfortunately, you have chosen to reference a part of American history where that is not the case and therefore diminishes the point you are trying to make IMO. I challenge you come up with another analogy or example. If you can...

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

p.s. - It would also make me wonder if you chose that analogy because I am Black, but that is beside the point.

Then you are not reading what I wrote and responding to something else. My intent is not to incite a riot in you. I'm just addressing your comment and expressing my own thoughts. It's a shame that you took it so personally. I hope that we can agree to disagree and still be online buddies in the end.

You're welcome to find whatever you want disgusting, that's true... but this is a thread about gay marriage, not about whether you find gays disgusting. How is denying someone the ability to marry legally (meaning they can't insure their spouse, or decide end-of-life issues or all the rights that you normally get by being married) not harming them?

I didn't know you were black (I don't check people's pics often), but hey, since it presents itself.... if I were to say that I had nothing against black people, I just didn't want them marrying outside their race because that was disgusting (laws that existed in the U.S. until not that long ago)... I don't think you'd think that I wasn't racist, even if I dressed it up in fancy language about purity.
