Hello all,

This is the D part of dj1206. I've got a quick question for you all. I submitted a lot of documents to J (my better half) early this month and she just received them in the Philippines yesterday. My question revolves around whether or not I need to submit or should have submitted a new letter of intent for her K1 interview with the stack of documents or if I should have just sent the one I originally sent the one I sent with the original I-129F submission to USCIS. I did the latter, but J is suggesting I should have done the former plus the latter. I know they like to see "continuing relationship" proof, and I feel we covered that, at least up until the May timeframe, with an extra trip to the Philippines plus pictures and such (and wedding bands receipt, but is another letter of intent with a date closer to the present needed for her interview? Thanks for your prompt attention. Best-

D

A renewed letter of intent addressed to the embassy is recommended, but not a requirement.

When in doubt! Submit!

I didn't have a doubt. J has just suggested that I was supposed to send a renewed letter. If I had known or even felt I needed to do that before I sent the package to her, I certainly would have done so. I did send J some new letters in the packets I mailed to her; perhaps in lieu of no "renewed letter of intent," she could use the letters I wrote to her where I said I still looked forward to us getting married to one another soon. I feel like I'd just be pandering to a consulate officer who might not even care to read such a letter. I can't see rush-mailing one piece of paper when a consular officer might not even look at it.

Not taking any changes, I gave Claudeth a new letter and a new I-134 about a month before she had her interview. Fortunately, I was able to hand deliver them to her :D I went to visit her before she had her interview.

You should do whatever makes you comfortable. I know that I would not hesitate to rush mail one piece of paper to my fiancee even if I only thought there was a 1% chance of it being used.

we both wrote a renewed letter of intent but it wasnt asked from me. it's just a supporting document in case of doubting the applicant or the application.

No one knows what the COs will look at and what they use to make a decision on whether there is a bonafide relationship or it's a scam.

More ammo the better!

I guess I'll FedEx her a new letter of intent. There shouldn't be any cause for the CO to think she's a scammer, though. Her intentions have always been very clear, and J did not expect to even be engaged to an American, much less with plans to even travel to visit America nearly two years ago when we first started talking. We're not what seems the typical Fil-Am couple. We're only 3 years apart in age, and we met with the intention of being only friends (no personals site or anything like that), then we discovered over time that it could be what it has turned out to be, and I know that we're happier than we've ever been.

There shouldn't be any cause for the CO to think she's a scammer

That's what this whole process is about and why there is a process.

Nailing scammers and terrorist.

She/you are scammers until you prove you otherwise.

COs don't know about your loving bonafide relationship.

Only way they can make a decision is from the evidence you submit and the interview.
