Emma "Marife" is making an appearance today in Manila for her passport. It has really been tough on her that she does not have an old ID. She's from Samar province and her home was near the sea, many of her documents, ID's and pictures were lost during a typhoon. She has really struggled to get all new documentation. She had lost practically all....Her High School Diploma, Her College Diploma, work ID's, everything was lost, she practically had to rebuild her life.

DFA does not make it easy, if there is no old ID, it is really tough to get a passport. Here is the US, all I had to provide was my drivers license and Birth Certificate. It's a little overkill there in PI.

She presented Drivers License, NBI, Birth Certificate, Voters Affidavit, Postal ID, SSS Number(Not permanent ID), Baptismal...yet it was not enough, they turned her away at Clark because she did not have OLD ID!! I guess she has most of her documents needed for the Visa now. She even obtained a Cenomar while she was at it.

Now she has her Form 137 from School, she is receiving assitance from a Travel Agency and they assure us that her ID's and documents are enough. They were recommended by Larry and Jen, we are grateful. Thanks!!

Jennifer and I are very happy to help. We have had alot of help from so many on this site. Jennifer enjoyed meeting Marife and is happy she will get to know a few girls in the us once all get here. I have had so many high's and so many low's on the voyage. I am so glad its almost over as long as we pass and receive visa. I would hope we all exchange e-mails once all get to usa and all keep in touch.

We had a real dog and pony show up in L.A. to get Claudeth's passport renewed. What a nightmare! I must of went down stairs 6 times to get documents copied because their web site didn't mention all the additional documentation and the people working the window seemed to enjoy telling us of the additional copy of another document they needed each time we returned. Oh well, 5 hours later we were enjoying ourselves at the Jollibee there in L.A. :D

Some good news to report. The DFA in Manila accepted all her documents, her passport will now be processed  . Hey Sheriff, you are right, using the Agency is the best way to go if some extra things are required  .

Larry, I am sure Emma will be interested in keeping up with Jen once they arrive here. Considering she will be quite lonely at first, she will want somebody to talk to as she adjusts to life here.
