Hi Confused,

Welcome to the club. Here is what I know - it should be close to accurate.

1) call INS and get instructions on cancelling the I-129f you filed

2) file form I-130 along with evidence of your relationship - pictures, affidavits, insurance policies, joint financial accounts (if any)

3) you will receive a NOA1 notice on the I-130

4) Once you receive I-130 NOA1 you will file an I-129F

5) You will receive an I-129F NOA1

6) now you wait 140-200 days

7) you receive approval of I-130/I-129F NOA2

8) your petition is shipped to Vermont for final processing - maybe 6-8 weeks

9) The petition is shipped to the embassy and an interview time is set maybe 2 - 4 months

10) interview - and visa

There are additional steps - but this is the big picture of what will happen if you follow the normal I-130 filing process. Good luck - the worst part is waiting for the NOA2 approval.

The I129F and I130 can now be filed together in the same package effective July 30, 2007. This went into effect with the new fees, no need to wait for NOA1 for I130 anymore, the fact that the petition is in the same package is the proof that you have filed. The fee is for the I130 now, no fee for the I129F for K3.

Cheers.
