I erroneously believed that the a# only was given after AOS receipt. Thus on the AOS, EAD, AP I wrote NONE in the A# line. I did however include the noa2 and the k1 visa in the packet. What could happen? What should I do?

Alex

Alex,

All you can do is wait - they are 'supposed' to use all means available to them to research cases before issuing an RFE, am not sure this would be RFE material anyway, hopefully they'll see the A# on your NOA2 and fill it in for you...

I was advised to leave the A# blank. The AOS is a new petition and nothing says they have to use the same A# that was used for your previous petition. I left it blank and the AOS was completed without incident or RFE.

You were advised wrong, if you came on a K-1. Glad you didn't have any difficulties, and I don't expect that the OP will either.

Can you give me an official reference that indicates you should put the A# from the K-1 on the I-485?

You are given an A# when you got your K-1 visa, you are asked on the I-485 form to fill in your A# if you have one. This seems pretty clear to me. If a new A# was given out for all AOS applications, why would they ask you to put it on your AOS application?

I guess the question should be asked, where does it say that you get a "new" A# when you apply for AOS?

Wouldn't the A# be theoretically submitted through the copy of the NOA2, since it's needed to adjust status if one had come here on a K1?

Correct me if I am wrong, but i came here on the K-1 and my Alien number is actually printed on my EAD card, hence the need to fill the Alien number section, like Dr_LHA said.

Aint the A number on the green card as well ??

Your K-1 Visa has an A# on it check it out. But if you put none on your application its not a problem.
