:jest: Good morning to all,

I am new to this forum and I see there is a lot to learn!

I have filed a petition for my husband and the I-130 has been approved, forwarded to the NVC and the case number is now available. I called them this morning but I found the agent totally "useless" since they have to read the script and they can't tell you more that what they see on their screen.

I would like to know how long it will take for us to get the "fee bill" and how long the process will take. Also I saw some postings on the shortcut method and I would like to know if it is safe to use that. When would be a good time of start that route?

Please share your experience...

Thank you very much,

Milena

Hello Milena,

You need to start getting familiar with the NVC process for Cr1/IR1 visas. You can do this by reading James' shortcuts found here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=117, they will help you out a lot even if you choose not to use them.

Also, you need to check the Department of State web site to see what documents you will need to send to the NVC with the DS-230 form. You can find that information here http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3176.html. Just choose your embassy and it'll tell you what those documents are.

Congratulations and good luck with the rest of your journey!

Diana

Hi Diana and thank you for the information.

I see you decided not to use the shortcut all the way through... any particular reason for that? I want to make sure I do everything correctly...

Have a wonderful day and thanks again for your help!

Yes, James' shortcuts can save you a lot of time. The only shortcut I didn't use was for the DS-230 and that was only because the NVC didn't really let me know when they were going to send me this info. But yes, the shortcuts work great.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the information...

Could you send me the link where you found the shortcut instructions? I want to make sure I am using the latest version since I found many....

Did you send the DS-3032 to the NVC before their request? I see that worked... So I could go ahead and send that now right?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions.
