Anyone in cleveland?

Just curious, I might have a job opportunity for few days and I might have to fly there form Chicago. Just really nervous about this cause hubby and me aren't too keen about being away for 3 days and I am nervous with the idea of going there on my own, never been there, will kinda be lost, etc

I am such a coward I might say no to the job. It's from the ex president of the company I was working for and he has opened a new lab in Cleveland and is currently looking for someone to train his new team, so yeah that would be definitely great for me.....but I am sooo not sure about all this for me and Josh.... I came to the USA to be with him, not for a new career.

Dilemma...

Just saw from the related topic on the bottom that there is Lynamon and evilcanuck ?

I grew up in the Cleveland area, and I'd recommend it to anyone. Cleveland itself is a nice small-big city with very nice museums, parks and culture. The area has a large eastern European population, so expect to have some of the best pierogi and sausages you've tasted! There are some areas that are better than others, which is true of all cities. You have four very pretty seasons, with fall being my favorite especially in southeast Ohio near West Virginia. Best of all, and what I miss the most, is how friendly people are in Ohio. It'll remind you hopefully of Canada. IM me if you'd like more details.

I appreciate the offer but that is only a 3 days job ;) I am not planning on moving there at all. My husband has his kids and his job in Illinois.

Emancipation: Yeah that's great. By the way he is the ex president because he tried to buy the company and because it didn't work out it ended up with immediate termination of his contract. But he is a really close friend to my ex boss and he knows the high standards that we had. I just wish he would be in the Chicago area cause then he could offer me a job right away :(

But yeah right now I am debating with myself to go or not to go....I am a chicken...

Well I had him waiting me at the airport and glued on me where ever we would go. It's easier that way.

Now go in a city I've never been alone by myself....that's another story

Thanks for the encouragement though

Hey thanks!

I realized I forgot to mention the job was only for few days

I sorted it all and I am currently waiting for more information about it, but after many discussions we decided Josh would accompany me (should be for 2-3 days only) so he will take few days of vacation, and since my plane ticket and hotel and food is all provided by them and I will get a nice salary its nothing to buy his tickets ourselves. It will be the first time we actually fly together!!!!! Alright its only a 1 hour flight, but Its still exciting! And hoping this in my resume would open the eyes of the other companies around Chicago.....Like hey my first job in the US is to train a team in Ohio, I must be worth something

I'm glad you got that settled and that Josh is going with you. I'm not actually a chicken in general when it comes to going to a new city - however - who wants to leave their SO behind?? (I'm sure some do but that's another thread haha).

A company I worked for sent me to Toronto for a few days, we ended up going together and taking the train across Canada (and back) and stayed for a week, it was fun!
