I think he came over and stayed then had a baby in the states, there is law in california that says if your child is born in the state the family can stay.

Not at all. That was changed (?) 20+ years ago.

California can write whatever laws it likes, but immigration law is a Federal manner and supercedes it.

Anyway, dude was pulling your chain, telling the story wrong, or you heard it wrong.

I think this person was pulling your leg. My ex was a Mexican that ended up qualifying for the deal the government offered about 15 or 20 years ago and I can guarentee you that it wasn't done in a month and it isn't going to get done in a month now. If he notified the USCIS they would have deported him! One thing that might have saved him is that he was married to a U.S. citizen but still, the card isn't going to be issued in a month. My two cents

I just dont understand it, its not like i am coming from a third world country and seeking asylum, the process is long and stupid and only filters the genuine people and not those who do it the wrong way. I mean Im from one of the financial capitals of the world and part of one of the worlds strongest past empire, yet i have to wait six months while millions of illegals now flood the borders and get to stay whilst filing for their papers. Its not fair.

PS: He may have been pulling my leg, but the facts still remain, i have known him for a year, and he is illegal (I have my sources) and he has been in the US for 8 years. So something wrong is happening their but i dont know what.

I live in Califorina aswell.I also know how bad it is with the illegal Mexicans. But no way did he get a greencard. Not in that amount of time, and not that easy.I was just in Fresno last week doing my wifes INS stuff. They dont just hand those thigs aout. Also she told me to expect a 6-8 month wait for my wifes 10 year card to get here.
