hi everyone,

I am so happy I have found this place, and I wish I would have found it sooner because I have been reading it all day, and it has really calmed my nerves.

I have two questions and would appreciate any information as my interview is on Friday in Montreal.

I keep reading about an express post envelope and a specific size...how big does this envelope have to be?

Also my son is only 8 does he have to come with me to the interview? I have read different things for different countries. But do they have to attend if they are under 14 in Canada?

thank you very much.

Children under 14 do not have to attend the interview unless specifically requested. I did not take my children and they were 5.

The express post should be one of the large ones so all the paperwork can fit nicely into it....mind you I had 3 visas coming in mine, but I still got the big one.

Good luck.

Oct 1/09 - I-751 package sent

Oct 3 - package delivered

Welcome to VJ and to the Canada forum!

Did you receive an enveloppe with a letter saying the interview date ( we call it packet4 )

If yes there should be a sheet in there saying the size of the enveloppe that you need. It is the biggest one from what I recall.

I got my packet four but there was no information about an envelope. Which is why I was confused when heard of this. On the consulate site it says they also provide them as long as I have a credit card. Soo should I bring my own or get the one from there?

It told me about everything else but the envelope.

Okay, knowing I don't have to bring my little one is a good thing since I will already be very stressed out on Friday.

Thank you all so much! You have all helped a great deal.

This feels much like Christmas eve did as a child, I can't sleep which is why I am up so late right now. ^_^

Good luck at your interview on Friday! Let us know how it goes although I suspect it will be absolutely painless and you will be doing the happy dance afterwards:-).

Good luck for your interview!

And remember, don't bring any bags/ big purse/backpack with you as they will tuen you away at the entry to go store it at the next cafe. Just bring all your documents in a plastic bag, and as for myself I had my keys and my wallet in my jacket so no purse. That way you will be the first to get in!!

My pkg 4 letter noted the exact size measurement for the envelope (I'm sure someone has posted it recently too), I don't remeber offhand. They give you metric and imperial measurements which made me laugh since they don't seem to realize we're still in Canada :)

Well appointment is done and I got approved. It took quite a long time and me and my fiances mother were the last people in there. We arrived at 8:30 for our 9:30 appt. We didnt get out until 1:30.

The only thing I didn't have was a D-156 for my son, I dont know why I thought he didn't need one, but I did.

So I had to go back to the hotel and get that done. At first they told me I could do it at the post office downstairs in the complexe dejardins but I went there and the post office had no idea what I was talking about. So they sent me to a cafe with internet access but no printer. At this point I had 40 minutes to get back to the embassy and I didn't have this form done yet. So I went back to the hotel and they had computers with internet access and a printer. I stayed at the Hyatt which was only a block away from the embassy.

So I finally got that form done and went back to the embassy and watched one woman get turned away because she didnt have police certificates, and I watched one woman get denied. Luckily the thing I needed wasn't that hard to get. Time started to go by very slow and like I said before everyone had left but us.

Then I heard the infamous: "Nevada, door 7"

So i went in to this tiny room with a glass partition and a tall man who had the tone of a game show host standing behind it. He just asked me where we met, how long we've been together, how long we've seen each other, he didn't ask to see the pictures I brought...which I was kind of upset about because they were really good vacation pics haha jk.

Then he told me I was approved and said my visa would be in the mail in 5 days. Congratulated me and all that stuff and gave me some papers about what a visa is and all that jazz.

Regarding my time line...its kind of messy since I have moved and I wasnt getting the mail I needed.

It all began in April 2006 and it ended yesterday August 2007...yes its been over a year.

And I've been with my fiance since 2003 and we've been engaged since 2005. I dont know every detail, but I'll try to figure out how to do a proper time line when I get the chance.
