Welcome Jomo's Girl! :D

And yeah, I know, I just gotta do it. My husband gets off work early on Friday so we'll try and get to the DMV then. Don't have my GC in hand yet and even if I did, It *might* not verify in SAVE (DMVs do that too right?) but I have my EAD which is valid so I'll use that and my shitty passport.

LOL Thanks for making me read through all of the entertainment :) Also nice to see my name in a post when I haven't posted something.

As to an actual answer to the question at hand, sorry if you hate the pic and sorry if the people looking at it don't see you in it but I doubt they will replace it early because of that. A 'change in appearance' is basically like if you lost 300 to 400lbs or got a nose job, face lift, chin job and face rearrangement pretty much LOL

Oddly enough in my old passport I was bluish gray (due to black and white photos) and called myself a smurf. I got my new passport with photos that I actually liked and somehow came out orange like a pumpkin

I asure you I'm not orange but gotta live with it for 5yrs :)

The answer to your other question is yes your husband can sign for you as a guarantor if he is a notary and puts his seal on the application. So that makes it easy for you in that way.

Enjoy the trip to the dmv this week LOL It makes me laugh that you've waiting this long. I can't wait to get my michigan driver's licence and have the state plate on my car. I won't feel like I'm a moving target on the freeway over there anymore LOL

Heh! Thanks for the info jynx! Guess I'm stuck with this thing for awhile! :P

Friday. DMV. The only reason why I waited this long is because I'm just getting a state ID, not a DL (never had a license). :)

Hoping jynx will see this...

I know the rules and regulations for getting a new passport from the U.S. but my question is, can I get a new passport when mine doesn't expire until 2011? I'm not changing my name or anything but my passport is becoming a bit of a problem because even though the photo on it is a year old, it doesn't look like me. I've had it scrutinised time and time again. It was a horrible photo to begin with but it's also WAY too dark (could it have been the scanner at the passport office because it looked "okay" in hardcopy). And my hair has grown a lot since then (it was just under my ears) AND I don't really wear makeup anymore or if I do, it's pretty light.

The lady at the SSA office commented it didn't look like me but the photo on my K3 in my passport does. The USCIS district office security guard commented it didn't look like me and the interviewer I could tell was thinking it until she flipped to my K3. People in stores when we buy booze sort of stare at it for awhile...

Think it'll be a problem to apply this early for a new one? I was thinking about sending it in about a month from now when I have my GC and my state ID in hand. Right now my passport is my only form of ID (well I have an EAD but want something a little more "common" for ID).

Misa,

I..oops I mean "a friend" got a nose job and passport canada said that i oops i mean "she" could get a new passport if she wanted to but it was not necessary as "the pictures are always awful anyways". I wouldnt apply right now...it is taking several months to process applications ESPECIALLY from the US. About 4-5 months through mail even though its says 10 weeks on the website. If i was you, I would wait until I came back to canada to visit and apply in person. You can get a new one and show them proof of travel and it can be done within 2 weeks if you apply in person.

Hope this helps

A

That long to get it ?

I'm about to send Andre's to the Jamaican embassy in NY to renew his. It looks to only take about 6 weeks. I am only renewing his because it is due to be renewed next year. Otherwise, we have had the darn thing in the safe deposit box at the bank since January of this year.

Ya its taking forever. I mailed my valid passport of May 29th to add my married name....and i had to contact my MP. I got it the second week of August, other wise they told me i could expect it the end of september. And mine was not a new application.

Heh, finally went to the DMV today to get my state ID. Picture is "okay".

The lady at the counter was super nice until she saw my other ID docs (Cdn passport with I-94 & EAD)... then she was just "wait here" and "$10". ####### was up with that?

The lady who took my pic was REALLY nice though.
