Green Card and EAD

I applied for my AOS and EAD together a few weeks after my husband and I got married. This was back in June 07. To my surprise ... I got my "Welcome" letter last week in the mail followed by my green card which states that on it that "The person identified by this card is authorized to work and reside in the U.S." Wonderful. But I'm confused ... what about my actual EAD card I'm supposed to get as well?? My EAD case hasn't been touched since June ... but I already have my green card. Someone please clarify this for me. Is the EAD now part of the green card?? meh.

You don't need an EAD now because you have your green card. You are authorized to work as a temp/permanent resident now. Congrats and enjoy!!!

Right. Sometimes there's no advantage in applying for EAD. It only really helps if the green card is delayed, or if, like our case, you file for EAD alone before AOS. (see my timeline)

Do you realize you just contradicted yourself there? Also, you are a K3, different kettle of fish as far as EAD before AOS.

There is indeed an advantage to filing EAD with AOS (pre-7/30/07). Some cannot afford to not work if their GC takes any longer than 90 days.....
