Folks,

I was reviewing the I-864 application and noticed that Section 2 and Section 3.

Here in SEction 3 it asks you to fill the boxes. then the summation adds up to 1 on Section 3, this ends up getting carried over to Section 5 which calculates the total household. This incorrectly puts the total to 1 extra individual.

Do you think I need to leave Section 3 blank since I am just sponsoring my spouse who was never married and has no children.?

any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

M

For Part 3 - question 8 - Put an X in the first box and an X in the 'Yes' box just under that. Your total for section 3 (item 10) should be '1'.

For Part 5 - do not enter your spouse, it is confusing but where they say 'do not count anyone twice' that is what they mean.

So where it says: a. Enter the number you entered on line 10. - enter '1', there is already a '1' for "Yourself". This makes your total for Question 21, Item H - '2'.

Do not leave section 3 blank. You need to answer "Yes" to number 8 and write "1" in number 10. The instructions don't say to carry over the number and add it to the household total. The instructions say to enter the number that you entered from Part 3, Line 10. Don't include the number in Line 10 when you're adding up the household number. Also, put 0 in the "spouse" line in section five as your spouse is already counted as the immigrant.
