Book a trip now, or wait for AP?

Hi VJers,

My husband and I didn't have an official honeymoon, after we got married in April, because he couldn't leave the country. We filed AOS, EAD, AP in July and are waiting... patiently... ok not very patiently :P

What would you guys do in our case. We found a cool cruise for the beginning of December 07, awesome price, awesome countries to visit. But we are still waiting on AP. While reading around on here, some people are waiting 90, 100, some even more than 150 days for AP. Should we play it safe and not book our cruise until we have the AP in hand? Or book while the prices are cheap and hope it will arrive by then?

I'm more of a conservative person, so let me know your opinion.

Thanks :)

I'd wait cause you just never know.

We filed at the end of July last year and did have greencard in hand the middle of November. So, there is hope.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Unless the cruise has a good cancellation/refund policy that will give you all or most of your money back, I'd wait until the AP was approved (or the GC, whichever comes first).

When you filled the AP, did you enter the date of the first trip you wish to make??..

I know that us, when we filled we put my brother's wedding as the first trip we wished to take and although we didn't got any news letting us think that we would get the papers in time, we received it one week exactly before the wedding! (so a little less than 11 weeks after the receipt date)..

I wouldn't book the cruise though unless you have a refund like the other person said... not just yet at least but I dare to think you got good chances to receive it before that, especially if you have put a date down for the first trip you wanna take and it is before the cruise.

Good luck either way, and I know it may not feel this way right now but you two love birds will end up having a great honey moon:) whether it is on that cruise you got your eyes on or else:)!

Take care

Reed

Thanks Reed! We've been honeymooning at home every since we got married  but you know we wanted an official one

I did put the estimated date of travel mid-December, thinking either a cruise or visiting my husband's home country, so we'll sit and hang tight for AP.

Oh AP my dear AP please hurry, we miss thee! hehe
