I applied back in November. They were quoting 30 to 60 days and did mine in 14. Others right before me and after me were quoted 30 to 60, but some waited 90 to 100 days.

There is no ryhme or reason to quoted times and actual times.

Just be thankful you didn't do this in 2003 or early 2004. They were quoting 270 to 330 days and rarely if ever finished early.

Hubby and I went through Nebraska when he filed the petition in 2004. Our notice said 120-180 days for processing. They weren't merely hedging a guess either. Our approval came after 197 days.

Want to sleep better at night? Don't be anxious, because once you've sent the petition out, it's not in your hands anymore. And take the advice of the others here: don't stake your peace of mind on these general time estimates.

All the best for the rest of your process. :)

I agree, we applied in 2004 and ours took 200 very long days. Hope you and others waiting are pleasantly surprised and get your approval sooner than you think. Fingers crossed for you all.

Your I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) was received on March 1, 2006. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. It is taking between 80 and 110 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete.

So what happened to the 60 - 90 days that was there yesterday?

:crying:

When we applied through Nebraska back in November, it said 30-60 days. When it got to 62 days since we had submitted, it suddenly switched to 60-90 days. When it got to 86 days...we got our NOA2.

It's super nervewracking, isn't it? But look at it this way -- what can you do? Now you've at least started the process and it's out of your hands. Plan on several months and then you'll be so pleasantly surprised if it comes before then! I am counting on getting the NOA2 in July (sent my petition on March 23) so if anything happens before then, it will be great!

Touched means that USCIS did something with your petition - it was looked at by someone, for some reason. Basically it means the "Last Updated" date changed, but the status did not - and we're talking about on the online status web site:

https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/login.jsp

You can see a glossary of some of the terms used on this site here:

just be glad you are applying before the republicans let all the hispanics apply for citizenship. i'll bet processing times will go up 3 or 4 months once that happens.

Considering there are about 11 million illegals .. I doubt that it would just be 3 or 4 months!

ok here i go again with another dumb question. If it's taking between 80 and 110 days and we started our petition now on april 07, does that mean that i'll probably be getting my interview in october? That's very depressing :crying: I've seen so many in Nebraska with a 4 months average, do you think it's going up now from 4 (average) to 6? I've seen cases of 3 months between i129 and interview in rio. I'm very sad now. :(

Well, we went through Nebraska, we are currently at 5 months, and we are at LEAST a month away from our interview. It's been a month since Montreal got our packet 3, and from the timelines online here, it's usually 6-8 weeks from the receipt of packet 3 to interview there. So four months was just from I-129F to packet 3 receipt.

One thing I have learned: NEVER go by the timeline they say its taking! Nebraska told me 120 days and it took around 40 days, NVC told me 90 days until they send it to the embasyy, it took a week, the embassy told me it would take three months to get an interview letter, it took 4 weeks. Try not to think about it, dont try to calculate when your interview may be or when you may get approved, it will just drive you even more insane. Just take it one day at a time and know everyday is one day closer to your approval (and dont worry, i know easier said than done) :)
