Well my summer of slackness has pretty much come to an end!! Well my 2.5 yrs of slackness is to an end, lol. My RN program commenced yestersay, and pretty much they said to put ur life on hold for the next few yrs and concentrate on school. yuck!!

hard to fathom the month I was back in Saskatoon( july) went by so fast, and the past week in BC just zipped on by! Unfortunately both of us were sick! Didn't do much in Victoria. Didnt feel like walking around. So the most activity we did was a whale tour. 3 hrs on the water, and saw ONE hump back whale! Saw many loons, sea lions, but only 1 whale! Wife figures it was on remote control! Far to oconvenient on how al of a sudden 1 whale popped up around 10 whale tour boats!! I highly recommend wild cat adventures if you do go whale seeing in Vic. The boat is a catamaran style, so the ride was smooth, seats comfy, and nice tour guides. Plus they gave student discounts($50 versus $79) Even though only saw 1 whale, I enjoyed being out on the water. Of course if ur in Vic, one has to go down by the fisherman's wharf and try Barbs Fish n' chips! We did treat ourselves to a Japanese restaurant, but was disappointed! Been to a few Japanese rest in Tampa, and they put on a much better show. Food was ok, but the cook was boring, lol. if ya have never been to a japanese style steak house, part of the cool factor is that they cook the food right in front of you. And in Tampa, they put on a show!! Some funny (yet lame) jokes, very cool culinary skills. Amazing how they twirl their knives and other cooking tools. But no such cool show in Vic!!

Spent 3 nights in Vic, then off for a night in Vancouver! Didn't do much again, as we were still ill. So didnt really take advantage of our "romance pkg" at the Hilton. We did visit the science world exhibit. Was pretty neat, but far too many kids, lol

Made our way to Kamloops for the wedding. Was nice to catch up with family and al went fairly well!! The wedding took place outside, and of course it had to rain, lol Not a lot, but enough to get wet,lol made it memorable. Most sat and got wet, but some of the wusses got up to take cover. I toughed out the few minutes of wetness. Was warm out, so wasn't that bad!

Was an early night for us, as we were up at 0400, on the road at 0430 for our 4 hr drive to van airport! Hoping to go standby to catch a direct flight from Van to DC!! Should have paid the $200 fee to change tickets, as we just missed out going stand by!! That flight would have got us home by 8 pm!! instead we flew from van to San Francisco, then to DC. Got to IAD at midnight!! And of course our bags were 1 of the last off. Lucky me had classes that afternoon!!

So that pretty much wraps up my summer. After class tomorrow, drive up to Baltimore, then fly to Providence RI to spend the long weekend with the inlaws in Middletown RI (by Newport)

Hope everyone is doing well. If this post doesnt make sense, I blame it on lack of sleep and coffee. cheers

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Thanks for your update flames! haha Just title this "What I did on my Summer vacation...". :) It was very informative and very cute.

Anyway, best of luck on the start of your RN program! You're right, it's a very intensive program, and I'm sure you'll do your best.
