I am a full time student and made only $6000 last year no other dependents.

I am Still in school but no job.

My co sponsor made $21000 with 2 dependents (3)

according to 2006 poverty guidelines says for 2 person it is $16500

for 3 person it is $20750. Rightnow he makes more since he is done with school.

I don't have any other person to co sponsor.

Would you think attaching my co sponsor's current pay stub work?

What else should I do?

Please help. Thanks

I think you need a different sponsor. As I understand it - Since he has 2 dependents - he needs to be able to support himself, his 2 dependents and the intending immigrant -you (or your wife) - that makes 4 people. For 4 people the poverty guidelines require - $25813 - so you will end up being short. However if your income was $6,000 then you will be OK with the same sponsor. So the question is - does your tax return show $6000 as Adj. Gross income? If yes then you should be OK. If not - then get another sponsor - someone who makes more money. Samajh gaye? Also you need to look at the 2007 poverty guidelines. Good Luck

Thanks for the reply.

I don't have any other person who can sponsor me.

Since you add my income shouldn't this be for 5 people? He and his 2 dependents and my wife and I. Am I right?

for 5 people it says 30,163 for 2007. The income is 20000+6000= 26000

For the remaining $4163 can we put assets, bank balance things like that. Would that work? Also he is making more money right now? I am going to put the recent pay stubs. Do you think that would work?

Thanks again

No, he is not sponsoring the US citizen - the US citizen survives on his/her own! :D So it is still 4 people. And yes you can use assets like bank accounts, house etc. They look at the last year's tax return to calculate this so it won't matter what you are making right now. But maybe you can wait for next year - its not that far. Good Luck

yes. I did make $6000 and he made $21000. Together it is $27000.

The poverty guideline for 4 is $25813 so I guess I am ok.

If you don't mind, please give me the address URL so I can see it.

Or did you talk to the customer service people.

I hope you understand my situation.

I really appreciate your help.

They don't add your income to the income of the cosponsor. A cosponsor must qualify to sponsor on their own based on their current household size + the beneficiary.

John is right the sponsor's and co-sponsor's income and not the intending immigrant's income will count. (That's the US citizen sponsoring meaning you plus the co-sponsor's income will count together - I thought you are the US citizen with the $6000 income and you are the sponsor - theek hai ya nahin?)

It looks like they don't care about my income since it is under the poverty guidlines.

In this case, my co-sponsor should make at least 25,813 ( 2 dependents and the future immigrant)

Is that right?

If that's the case then I am screwed

You now have a clear understanding. Perhaps you need to find a different cosponsor or wait until your employment situation improves.
