Hi to all,

Good day,

I arrived here in LAX last Aug 18, and my 194 will expire Nov 16 and my wedding date is Nov. 10.

Here is my question.

Should I apply now for SSN or just apply after the wedding?

Is that Ok if I file the AOS and EAD a week before my 194 expires.

thank you.

Apply for it straightaway.

I took Claudeth to SSA about 2 weeks after she arrived and she received the card a week later.

You will not be able to obtain a SSN once your I-94 comes within 14 days of expiring, so best to either get it prior to that date or you can also wait until you receive your greencard.

There is no specific date as to when you have to file for AOS. There is a date in which you have to marry by, should you want to adjust from a K1.

Be aware that in some states you must have a SSN to marry - so be careful and know what is required in the state you are planning to get married. Why not apply for it right away - what do you gain by waiting? Good luck
