I don't know...I know a lot of guys who would be thankful for the chance to go home for a little while...and it's not like they really want to be illegal. I know a lot of them really would like a Visa.

And how long do you think is it going to take to process, say, 3 million visa at the US Consulates? Just trying to put your "little while" into some perspective. ;)

I agee. I would like to understnad this " little while" idea too.

dayum it I have been waiting for my husband for:

1 year 2months and 5 days.

we have played by the rules. my husband never committed no crimes nor have I.

and we are stuck in He11. The law makers are discussing so much about these illegals.

what about those waiting to be with their family members. what about us!

my husband got interview at the embassy.

I got interview at USICS < approved >

we got 2 random Field investigations ISL embassy and Lahore consulate.

security checks order on us 2 times back to back.

You're right. I wonder if they'll bo doing security checks on all of these "guest workers".

If so, it should delay the program for years.

Oh, well then certainly they'll immediately drop the security checks for Shon and everyone else on AR, right?

You know what upsets me? My son entered "legally" and he is being threatened with deportation. 11 million enter "illegally" and they are offered citizenship!

As you know I entered legally as a K1. Now I'm also being threatened with deportation too. My only "crime" was to end up married to an abusive man.

Look the problem is not the security checks being done. the problem is when the security checks expire and they re order them again. in case you are not aware some of the checks have a very short shelf life.

alot of us are stuck in AR hell :

security chese were cleared OCt 2005 security checks compleated.- cable sent to embassy from DOS.

Jan 13th, 2005 security checks compleated - no objections-cable sent to embassy from DOS

Jan 19th security checks compleated no objections no more ordered.

our case sat for months collecting dayumm dust. guess what they re orderd the security checks again! TODAY. April 6,2006 so I ask when does this hell end????????????

now we can expect more delays because of the illegals clogging up the system- waiting for their special V.I.P treatments.

You should contact your Congressional Reps and the freaken President and demand an explanation.

Maybe call your local newspaper or TV station?

We have spent years dealing with our Congressmen and women, senators, ombudsman, attorneys and yes, I have even written to the President who just forwards the letter on to the Department of Homeland Security - viscious circle. Nobody seems to be able to answer the simplest question on this.

I have written to the Washington Post, my husband to various other newspapers, nobody wants to know.

Seems that illegals have more of the public's sympathy than those doing it legally!

Well unfortunately we are the forgotten people.....the people who's petitions and such have fallen throught the cracks....or files got lost....or sat in some damn room for months and months on end until they reached the point where they either aged out....or the damn security checks expired.....and I can tell you from my experience with Senators & Congressmen - the majority of them don't give a f**K.....

The media is not interested in our stories....I think because they don't believe us.....they don't think the government is as f**ked up as it is.....and everything is a big damn secret....the USCIS will not tell a congressman or senator anything put the damn scripted line....and the damn Senators and Congressman pass it on to us and tell us to wait.....(sorry am starting to rant)

This was how it was reported by BBC world news:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4885672.stm

Republicans and Democrats in the US Senate have reached a last-minute compromise on a new immigration bill. The breakthrough could clear the way for approval of legislation granting millions of illegal immigrants the right to stay in the US.

President George Bush said he was encouraged by the development.

The deal, which came after weeks of wrangling, now requires a full Senate vote that could take place before Friday night. "I'm pleased that Republicans and Democrats in the United States Senate are working together to get a comprehensive immigration bill," President Bush said in a statement welcoming the accord.

Various requirements

The deal would allow illegal immigrants who arrived in the US five years ago or earlier to be allowed to stay subject to various criteria, including a criminal background check. Those who have lived in the US for less than five years but more than two years would be able to get a temporary work visa - but they first must leave the country and would be fingerprinted and processed on their return.

They would be given priority in applying for US residency over future immigrants entering as temporary workers.

However, under the bill, millions of illegal immigrants who have been in the country for less than two years would be required to return to their countries of origin.

Conservative senator Sam Brownback called the immigration debate "probably the most divisive issue in America today".

"I hope this compromise ends up bringing us together, and I believe it can," he said.

The government doesn't care about us Shon...they only want to make themselves look good by pampering the illegal who is here and boo hoo, wants a new life in the great US of A. I'm sorry...I know I sound sarcastic...but this whole dam process will do that to you...especially to the couples that the USCIS has played with their life for months and years. It feels like a slap in the face to me and my beloved, we CHOSE to do this the legal way and we have paid for it...now these ILLEGALS are going to be able to get the same thing (i.e. legal status) far quicker and cheaper than us. Something ain't right here....

I agree. its a big smack in the face. we got security checks ordered. feels like starting from scratch.

now I gotta for sure keep this from Javed. I dont want him to feel like how I am feeling. so I gotta keep him up beat and high sprited. its not right the illegals get the special treatments. I wish my husband could have gotton at least the k-3. that wont happen either. :crying:

how do u know they'll get a faster process?? and.. this visa is a temporary one, i wouldnt think they need a big processing time, cuz they dont plan on stayin here forever (talkin about the guest worker visa).. about the citizenship visa, well.. i'd think they have to go through the same citizenship procedure as all of us

I called the Department of state and they told me. :(

they said one security check ordered. I was too bummed to find out what one it was.

we cant even get a simple k-3 visa. you know the one that allows your family member

to wait in the USA while the CR1 is being processed. so this whole illegal talk dont make me feel very

good. :(
