You know what upsets me? My son entered "legally" and he is being threatened with deportation. 11 million enter "illegally" and they are offered citizenship!

You should contact your Congressional Reps and the freaken President and demand an explanation.

Maybe call your local newspaper or TV station?

We have spent years dealing with our Congressmen and women, senators, ombudsman, attorneys and yes, I have even written to the President who just forwards the letter on to the Department of Homeland Security - viscious circle. Nobody seems to be able to answer the simplest question on this.

I have written to the Washington Post, my husband to various other newspapers, nobody wants to know.

Seems that illegals have more of the public's sympathy than those doing it legally!

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

I also just read on MSNBC that one of the behind the scenes deals being negotiated is that those already in the country legally would be able to apply for naturalization in four years instead of five.

Hmmm. And USC spouses here legally in two i/o three? Or is that trying to push my luck?

Love that

I don't doubt it for a minute. I just think that right now would be a dandy time to make them sweat just a little. I mean, come on, you are about to vote to legalize 11,000,000 people that have been breaking the law for years and here is a family of law-abiding citizens and lawful, tax-paying residents that can't get a fair, out-of-the-box resulotion to the plight of an allegedly "aged-out" son?

For whatever it may be worth, I will be emailing my Congressional Reps and let them know that a YES vote on any amnesty equals to a NO vote from me come the next election. Maybe if enough law-abiding, eligible voters would do so, this madness would simply stop!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

When you state 'escape the law in their own country(ies)' I presume you mean martial law, tyranny or genocide. That's asylum - and there is a legal vehicle for those situations.

..

No, when i spoke of escaping the law, I meant just that... do you think all of the illegal immigrants here are law abiding with nothing to hide and just wanting to feed the family? Yes there are asylum seekers here, but what I meant was people trying to avoid incarceration in thier own country.. here.. free men/women again.

...

Any anger you see here isn't directed at any certain race or culture. It's directed at a bureacracy that has made most of us in this online community jump through hoops, and now proposes a 'free pass' for others who have chosen to circumvent those same processes.

ah yes.. the joys of bureacracy... please no one all the time. because it wont please the illegals 100% either... thats for sure.

So how will this affect those of us who are already "in line"?

Not much. We aren't in the right demographic.

OH my geeyawd you might have hit the nail on the head again by accident. An already weakend Republican party now has millions of Illegal immigrant now legalized who will be Naturalized soon and able to vote. Wrongly they might vote but vote they will. Geeyawd it's like walking into an Auto plant and seeing "Sportsman for Bush" stickers on workers lunchboxes. People just don't get it. It's the economy stupid, and they're selling us out. :help:

All done for the next 10 years...

Personally, I have friends who are Mexicans and my husband is black so it's not about race or color, ...
Isn't it sad that you feel the need to make that statement?
What?

I'm saying it's a sad state of affairs that people feel the need to pre-empt others from pulling the race card on them when talking openly and critical about the whole situation surrounding illegals.

They feel the need because people are continually pulling the race card; accusing people who are angry about illegal immigration of being racist, or anti-immigration, or having a problem with "brown people".... of course, there's been none of that on VJ

I haven't read your post, or any of the others in this thread but I did want to comment on your signature.

XCELLLLLLLLENT....;)

It's not just the folks that will be eligible to vote in the future, but as Mand said, it's the whole voting block they may be courting...hoping that sympathies from citizens who can vote RIGHT NOW will pay off a lot sooner.

But I'm not cynical about our illustious leaders or anything....

That explains why I spend so little time on VJ futilely arguing with certain members on this forum. Time is better spent where it counts...hammering your 2 US Senators and your House Rep to kill this ridiculous and ill advised reward for illegal aliens. These bills that are in the Senate are thinly disguised attempts at amnesty using all kinds of semantics to fool the misinformed. These Senate bills are not good for the vast majority of working Americans.

Nothing personal, but the plight of the illegals is the responsibility of the government of countries they are citizens of and of the flags they so proudly wave in public. They are not refugees or eligible for asylum.

Where is the outpouring of sympathy for the recently unemployed American workers at Ford and GM? It is time to put this into perspective.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
