I'm not sure why you ever thought in the first place that this "amnesty" WOULD help you... But I'm glad to see you understand why the rest of us are so annoyed, pissed off, frustrated, etc...and that it's not just about the poor Mexicans being discriminated against.

This is pure craziness... methinks it's all about the numpties in Washington courting a specific demographic for the November elections because you can't tell me they are all that caring about their south-of-the-border brethren. I know it's for illegals all over the globe...but come on, let's be realistic...we know who this is primarily meant to benefit.

Ok now I'm pissed. And don't get me wrong-I don't wish ill on anyone. I think people should have the opportunity to provide for their families. I don't begrudge the illegals this good fortune that has befallen them. BUT I expect more from my government who has punished Javier and I by sending him to jail for a month and back to Mexico, then this whole Advisory Opinion thing. If this law doesn't help us in any way, I can tell you I'm not going to be happy at all.

Frances, the reason I thought it would help us is because it was supposed to have a section which would allow for those currently eligible to file an I-601 Waiver to forgo filing the Waiver and instead pay a fee. That way we would only have to file the I-212. Our attorney has not yet gotten back to us on whether or not this will still be able to help us.

Rebecca, they are because there is no Visa option available. I know of one who came over on a Visitor Visa. He was very fortunate to get that Visa-it's not easy. You need assets, property, bank accounts-3 things a lot of Mexicans don't have. Aside from that, there was no "go to work for a couple years to make money and go home" Visa. So no matter what, there were no legal options. I'm telling you, some of these guys will put off going home to see sick parents, wives, growing children for years for fear of not being able to get back in and make the money.

Now tell me, what on god's green earth does a lawful visitor have to do with this?
