Ah, yes. But then there are LEGAL bleeding hearts (with empty pocketbooks from paying our fees and waiting for our loved ones to be granted an EAD) and then there are ILLEGAL ones...

LOL. Or, rather, I would be LOL if I wasn't practically shaking at the thought of people who willfully and knowingly broke the laws jumping the biometrics/EADs/APs/GCs line in front of everyone here.

I know of one who came over on a Visitor Visa. He was very fortunate to get that Visa-it's not easy.

Because of guys like him. ;)

I never said he overstayed...as a matter of fact he hasn't. He went home for the holidays also.

He's on a visitor visa for how long? long enough to go home for hilidays them come back n visit some more? without overstaying/working? What kind of visa is that?

Sure its not easy to get a visitor visa from 3rd world countries.. for men or women.. why? because some don't go back. Not all, but some. Then there are high fraud countries too.. which makes it harder fro ppl really wanting them for legit reasons.. former russian state countries, china (cause its communist which is stupid), vietnam, PI... its logistics that makes this what it is today. If the border to the was actually say... Cameroon (hypothetical situation here) would you still throw around your rhetoric so easily? Everyone has the hate on for Cameroon ppl now?

You know what? I wish they all were here LEGALLY.. why? because then they would not be living in fear of deportation, they would have LEGAL recourse when they get stiffed at the job site for pay, they would get DECENT wages, they would have the same rights and recourses for situations as citizens and LEGAL residents.... and there would have been a background check. All here illegally arent here to feed their families and send money home, but to also escape the law in their own country(ies).

When you state 'escape the law in their own country(ies)' I presume you mean martial law, tyranny or genocide. That's asylum - and there is a legal vehicle for those situations.

Any anger you see here isn't directed at any certain race or culture. It's directed at a bureacracy that has made most of us in this online community jump through hoops, and now proposes a 'free pass' for others who have chosen to circumvent those same processes.

The more I think about this law the more it starts to make me angry. The way you just put it Rebecca....look at all the hoops we're jumping through trying to get Javier's visa...all those who happened to be lucky enough not to get caught are now going to simply get a Visa...

Exactly. It should make you, and every lady here who had to go through hell to get a former EWI back into the country, very, very angry.

I was thinking the same thing but didn't want to say it. It is kind of aggravating to me that we paid all kinds of money, jumped through all kinds of hoops and spent all that time apart(which in turn created other issues) and they will just get their visas. It is a slap in the face for the one's who are doing it legally. I mean, Javier could have stayed here illegally but we thought we were doing the right thing. Plus, he got a CPR card, which we will have to remove conditions on, will all these people get a PR card, no questions asked.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

Ok now I'm pissed. And don't get me wrong-I don't wish ill on anyone. I think people should have the opportunity to provide for their families. I don't begrudge the illegals this good fortune that has befallen them. BUT I expect more from my government who has punished Javier and I by sending him to jail for a month and back to Mexico, then this whole Advisory Opinion thing. If this law doesn't help us in any way, I can tell you I'm not going to be happy at all.

Be prepared for some un-happiness, then. This is not about families and marriages and that. It's about cold, hard dollars that many profiteers are making through illegal labor. This anmesty deal will not decrease the number of illegals, it will (as history has come to show time and again) increase that number making more cheap labor available to more greedy employers. It'll accellerate the race to the bottom for many and increase the profit margins for the few. Congress is getting paid for this by those few. ;)

Rebecca, they are because there is no Visa option available. I know of one who came over on a Visitor Visa. He was very fortunate to get that Visa-it's not easy. You need assets, property, bank accounts-3 things a lot of Mexicans don't have. Aside from that, there was no "go to work for a couple years to make money and go home" Visa. So no matter what, there were no legal options. I'm telling you, some of these guys will put off going home to see sick parents, wives, growing children for years for fear of not being able to get back in and make the money.

Do you even read what you post? Crazyness.

Guess why it's so hard for *my* Mexican friends to get a visa for a genuine visit? Could it be because so many of *your* friends have totally violated the terms of their visitor's visa? And you'd like me to feel bad about missing mama because they won't be able to sneak in again?

Mexico is not totally bankrupt; I have lived in much poorer places. Might not be able to make the same as they do in the US, but we all make choices about what's imporant in life.

Do YOU even read what I post? I said ONE, which does not constitute "so many" and he has NOT violated the terms of his visa. I merely mentioned him to indicate that I only know ONE Mexican who came in on a Visitor's Visa. Try reading it next time.
