I know of one who came over on a Visitor Visa. He was very fortunate to get that Visa-it's not easy.
Because of guys like him. ;)
I never said he overstayed...as a matter of fact he hasn't. He went home for the holidays also.

You were lamenting Mexicans that need to come here to feed their families back home. Talking about a lack of visa options for those folks. This guy wasn't one of them? He didn't work here? Why would you mention him in this context then?

Personally, I have friends who are Mexicans and my husband is black so it's not about race or color, ...
Isn't it sad that you feel the need to make that statement?
What?

I'm saying it's a sad state of affairs that people feel the need to pre-empt others from pulling the race card on them when talking openly and critical about the whole situation surrounding illegals.

I think it's easy to think this is JUST a mexican thing, but it's not. We need to look out beyond our immediate world. Melissa I know you are biased because of Javier, butl ike Pax said there are people in countries ALL OVER THE WORLD that can't get work visas and who would love to come make money to feed their families...

Why should people who chose NOT to follow the laws get rewarded with visas? It boggles my mind!

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I'm glad you cleared that up. Thanks.

They feel the need because people are continually pulling the race card; accusing people who are angry about illegal immigration of being racist, or anti-immigration, or having a problem with "brown people".... of course, there's been none of that on VJ

What a great compromise! /sarcasm

Who ever had this brilliant idea to reward those who have been in the country illegally the longest is beyond me. Shouldn't it be the other way around? It seems this is a watered-down version of the Specter-bill and those "though" on immigration just got an assurance that illegals who've been here for less than two years will leave.

Btw, I don't think this bill only benefits Mexicans but also other illegal immigrants from around the world. Those are the people who can more easily proof when they got here because of the stamps in their passports.

So how will this affect those of us who are already "in line"?

Not much. We aren't in the right demographic.

I don't understand. Aren't DHS resources going to be monopolized by the coordination of this guest worker program?

I'm being sarcastic. I'm saying it won't affect us in the positive. We aren't huge numbers that can sway an election, so there's no trick or treat candy for us.

I agree(above) but once every so many years this happens in some way, shape or form, doesn't it? The people who come here illegally know if they can fly under the radar long enough, they'll get to stay. The government never disappoints. :( It's just wrong, period. Wouldn't it be nice if Americans(or PRs, etc etc)could just pick and choose which rules they choose to follow?? M.

btw I'm just gonna run to the store real quick and stuff a few things under my coat that we're running low on at the moment..maybe I can get by with it; if not all I have to do is explain that I NEEDED it, so all in all I should be fine.

Sorry, I missed your point.

This new law will then increase our wait time for EAD, green card, citizenship, etc.?
