Ace, that's an interesting analogy but it doesn't even begin to touch how serious the issue of deportation really is. Tickets I've forgotten about...

Why? People know the risk when they speed and people know the risks when they enter this country illegally. What is the difference?

If your first ticket is a speeding ticket, does it result in a ban from driving for any number of years?

If your first immigration violation results in deportation, does it result in a ban on further re-entries for any number of years?

Frances, to explain myself what burns me is that for the same crime we got jail, they would get a green card! Sorry, but that's not fair.

Which piece of legislation says "they get a Green Card"?

If you count on the 'eleven years to citizenship' piece, I still count several years before they can become LPRs. "Legal status" does not equal LPR; I have a feeling the lawmakers have something different in mind.

oK, FINE. Drunk driving--yes you can lose your privledges.

If people do something illegal, they shouldn't act surprised when there are undesirable effects.

I think they are being quite lenient-agree or disagree. I don't feel sorry for people that are deported, sorry.

Fine, but is it reasonable to expect equal treatment under the law for all people who are known to break the same law?

Yes, I think they are being a bit lenient. I think it is rediculous that for dozens of years Mexicans have flooded our borders and we have not enforced any law that we currently have on the books, but this is where we are and something needs to be done. I understand that. How do they expect to know how long someone has been here?

Would you voluntarily turn yourself in to avoid POSSIBLE punishment for breaking a law you hadn't yet been caught breaking?

Were you aware that people who have been deported for an overstay, whether it be removed at POE or otherwise in most cases are afforded the opportunity to file a waiver to overcome this. Alot of these waivers are handled either at the Embassy, Service Center and or Dept. of State. Waivers can take years to process depending on the country....but guess what the number one consulate/embassy is Ciudad Juarez, number 1 in approvals.....and number 1 in processing them.....most in a few months. [/b]

so? ur mad at Juarez cuz they process faster and more efficiently? last time I was there.. i saw a ton of rejections for families that had 100 kids (lol) and couldn't afford the minimun standard of living..

and. about taxes.. bohoo. guess what, I also pay a lot of taxes..

-_-

this thread became kinda boring now..

so i shall say adios for now...

my conclusion.. me importan 2 kilos de ñonga, or.. i really don't care.. if they wanna deport them, good, if they don't, good. if they wanna put some chips in them to track them.. ok.. as long as it doesn't affect me, which it isn't at all.. fine.. i don't wish anybody 'dieee mortal, I dont want u to get a Visa'.. i hope that the people trapped in loopholes can get out of them soon..

ain't my govt yet, i cant vote, so i'll let it in hands of the US citizens.. i will respect whatever law they come with.. because these stupid protests are separating the latinos even more with the general population.. and that isn't goodl.. i support laws that make society more diverse and add something from different cultures.. but, if the latinos keep their stupid aztlan thing, their non-efforts to learn the language and become more integrated with society, its still gonna be a mess.. and that sucks.. and more importantly.. when politicians in MExico realize that the real solution to the economy is inside, because the money from US ilegals is a mirage, is not a real solution.. and will never be..

ayy que triste estoy.. lol

My point about Juarez was that they already get an expedited waiver system after they have entered illegally gotten caught and deported.....I am not picking on Mexico....there are thousands of illegal immigrants from other countries also.....but what I am saying is that this Government makes damn sure they get back in quicker than any other country...hmmmm....wonder why

Yes you probably do pay taxes just like every other legal immigrant/citizen......so now we are back to my original question......why should someone who is not legal be afforded more rights than you are????...

well.. they have been living like criminals all their life.. hiding from laws, receiving abuses from the companies that hire them.. I really wouldn't want to live like that for 2 or 5 or 10 years.. and of what I know, they still have to go through a citizenship procedure, just like any other immigrant.. true.. they skipped the paperwork of coming to AMerica, but.. I don't thing they are just taking the ladder to the last square..

and that question.. dunno.. we better ask el tio sam.. i would also like to know why can I die for America but not vote.. but.. hey.. i just follow the rules and not complain.. as long as it's not harmful to me.. i really don't care.. i.e. I dunno how, or why, some hispanics get a green card or something, that excempts them from paying taxes, i've heard of it, and, I would like to have one like that lol, but I can't, and I dont have the minimun interest in writing someone and ask why they aren't payin taxes and I am.. im doin my duty, and that makes me sleep well at night

I really wouldn't want to live like that for 2 or 5 or 10 years..

Which is why you chose not to. Illegals, on the other hand, chose to live the life they live. They weren't forced to live like that, to hide from the laws or anything like that. I know Bush would like us to believe otherwise saying that "An immigration system that forces people into the shadows of our society, or leaves them prey to criminals is a system that needs to be changed," but that's just his typical ignorant nonsense. The system doesn't force them into the shadows of society. Their decision to disregard the laws of our land does. It's their choice. There's at least a billion people worldwide that would love to come here for a better live. Only they don't because they don't have a legal way of doing so. ;)
