It doesn´t help much, does it? Except it helps those that are there for 5 years or more, the others will wait till they have 5 years or more and try their citizenship as well. Or wait for a new pardon, law, etc.

This proposal is an amnesty for all those that have ignored our laws long enough (>5years) and keeps a status quo on everyone else already here or still in the process of coming. Those with criminal backgrounds will, of course, remain underground regardless of how long they have been here. It's a grotesk proposal.

How much do we all want to bet that this will be another unfunded mandate? Is there going to be another USCIS service centre in, say, San Diego or Corpus Christi to deal with the influx of "guest worker visa" seekers?

I'm sorry; I'm all for a sensible, compassionate immigration policy that allows people to come here to seek work legally. But if this is the best our elected representatives could come up with, they're dumber than I thought.
