When we came to this country about 21 years ago we didn't know any English. I was put in ESL classes for most of the day except for math and Phys. Ed. and no, the other teachers didn't spend extra time with me trying to get me to understand what math was. They just gave me my books and that was that.

We were all illegals at the time but my parents paid taxes while they were working, so yeah even illegals pay taxes. Say what?! Yup! The IRS doesn't care if the SSN is valid or not right away as long as you're paying uncle Sam what they want you to pay. Now we're all citizens, speak English fluently and yes still pay taxes. Oh shocker!!!!!!!!!! :o

Yes, God Forbid that teachers spend their time teaching the children who need it most.

All children who slow the class down need to be deported back to a country of the teachers choosing. That'll include a lot of white trash kids too. Good thing.

Well considering there are over 12,000,000 people here illegally, most from Mexico, I would say a majority of those non-English speaking kids are Latino.

PS Plus the obvious FACT that most counties are hiring a hell of a lot of Spanish speaking teachers!!

I imagine if Ionescu had said the girl was Chinese or Russian people wouldn't be freaking out.

No particular reason to assume the child is illegal (especially since I gather from the original post that Ionescu doesn't live in an area with a strong Hispanic community; if you just snuck in, would you move to an area where you stuck out like a sore thumb?) Lots of ways for a youngster who doesn't know the language to come here: maybe she's the daughter of someone's fiancee.
