Hi, I'll be leaving on Wed. for the US on K1 visa. My POE would be O' Hare Int'l Airport. Would like to know if I still need to present my x-ray film at the Immigration counter or could I just include it in my check-in luggage? Honestly, it's such a hassle if I would have to carry it w/ me on the plane cause I'll also be carrying along my wedding gown.

Hope anyone who has experienced bringing his/her SLEC x-ray film, pls. help me.

Thanks and God bless you!

I handcarried my X-ray film because that's what SLEC told me. ;) You'll never know if they'll ask for it at your POE or not, but to be on the safe side, handcarry it. It was indeed a hassle for me because I was carrying it in the plane along with a huge bag and a purse. My POE was Minneapolis and the immigration officer didn't ask for it. But like I said, you will never know if they'll ask for it or not. I'm sure you'll have some precise answers from anyone who has Chicago POE. Good luck and have a safe trip to US!

You won't need it at the POE but you might want to hang onto it. When I took Claudeth to the civil surgeon he wanted to do an xray so I gave him the one from St. Luke's and saved us $35.00

alulette,

For most people, they do not have to present the x-ray, however I believe you are instructed to be able to present it should they ask for it at the POE. I'd put it in my carry-on bag(s) - a neat way to carry it is to roll it (lightly) and put it into a postal-tube - that way you can stuff it in pretty much any bag.

Thanks for all the replies :) I guess il just hand carry it after all. And putting it in a postal tube is a neat idea! Will go to National Bookstore tomorrow and look for one. Thanks again! :)

as per SLEC's instruction, x-ray film should be hand-carried and I just followed it though it was never asked by the immigration officer upon my entry. i placed mine in a plastic tube for its safety from water or from folding.

I also entered at O' Hare and carried that huge pain in the butt with me. They did NOT ask to see it. My CS told me they'd ask for it.

Anyone on here actually ever get asked for it?

LOL, they aren't qualified to interpret medical exams either so I don't even know what the heck they look at them for. The procedure should be that someone at the embassy reviews it and once the visa is approved, you shouldn't need any more BS.

I experienced quite a hassle because the IO had no clue what anxiety disorder or polycystic ovarian disease is. I waited forever and a day for someone from the CDC to review my medical records. When she finally came around and asked the IO what the problem was and he explained what was on my medical record, she rolled her eyes and told him to let me through. I could tell she was annoyed. She even apologized for him.

i doubt anyone had the POE would be qualified to even read the X-ray....

My POE was O'hare Chicago. I handcarried my X-ray as per SLEC instruction but the IO officer didn't ask to see it. I guess there's no need for them to see it because our medical exam result is inside the brown envelope that we will present to them. Still, it is better to handcarry them. You never know if they will ask for it.

Why would a POE officer ever need to see an xray? I have seen discussions on this for two years and have yet to have anyone post that the POE asked to see it. They aren't doctors so certainly wouldn't be able to identify anything on it.
