First hand is always better. I suggest your US Citizen friend join the group and start by studying the "Guides" by clicking on the word "Guides" at the top of any page.

Assuming they met when she was already here legally as a student, the easiest (not necessarily most appropriate for them, just easiest) route may be for them to marry before her visa expires, and then just adjust status to permanent resident. I say "may be" because we don't know enough about her circumstances and status to be certain she would qualify.

If she returns to Guatemala unmarried, then the K1 path would be appropriate if they plan to marry in the US. Otherwise marriage abroad followed by either CR1 or K3 would be the the route.

Also if she decides to go back to Guatemala, she needs to make sure she doesn't overstay her visa; otherwise, once your friend files for her, the CO might deny her new visa.

No.

First you said they were engaged to be married. Now you say they are married. You won't get the right answers and you'll send us on a wild goose chase if you provide the wrong information in your questions.

Again, have them read the guides. There is one specific to them that spells things out very clearly. No need to reinvent the wheel.
