Hi

I am about to file the I-130 petition in Costa Rica (DCF). I was married to a Tico on July 23.

Can anyone advise me how to proceed?

I am confused about the current resident conditions. Do you have to be a perminent resident and also have been living in Costa Rica for 6 months?

Is anyone familiar with the US Emabssy in this country?

I am waiting for a reply....

Thanks

You don't have to be a permanent resident, but you have to meet certain residency requirements (usually 6+ months) and provide proof of that residence being legal (you know, study permit, work visa, etc). Check out the website for the San Jose Embassy or whoever deals with DCF in Costa Rica.

Good luck and welcome!!!

Peace, L.

Good Morning

I am still confused about the permanent Resident status because if you are already a Permanent Resident why do you have do prove ( For The DCF) that you have been in the country for six months. Is this an and/or sort of thing?

I am going to call the Costa Rican US Embassy today, but Can anyone give me a heads up?

Since actual procedures vary greatly from consulate to consulate your best source of information is what you doing and that is by contacting the consulate directly....

YMMV
