I am asking a question for a friend. My fiancee from Peru already has a K-1.

My friend lives in Florida but is from India. He is here on a work visa but does not have a green card. He will be going to India soon to meet a prospective bride. He told me that if everything works out, all he has to do is buy a ticket for his bride and she can get on a plane and come to the USA. I asked him about getting her a visa and he told me that she does not need to get any type of visa. Its automatic for Indians that marry becasue of the culture.

Is this true?? Does he know what he is talking about or is he naive?? I understand the culture is different and he will not be able to show proof of an on going relationship but it seems to me they would still have to go thru immigration and the embassy in India.

Depending on what type of work visa he has, and where in the process he is, he can get married and his spouse will pick up derivative status.

He is not eligible to file for a k-1 visa, as he is not a U.S. Citizen.

I should add that this has nothing to do with India or its culture.

And yes, his spouse would need to do some paperwork, although I am unsure of specifics.

She will need the appropriate visa. There is no such thing as buying a ticket and just coming here because of a marriage, from any country in the world.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.
