Good story.

And if I read you right, I think you are talking about a lot more than trust. You are talking about someone who is steadfast and reliable. A 'got your back' kind of thing.

Thank you

Yeah, it's totally a 'got your back' thing....but I suppose for me, it was also 'trust-adjacent' cos it takes a lot for a person like me to be able to leave problems in someone else's hands and know that they'll deal with it and 'protect' you. You know that exercise where your partner stands behind you and you fall backwards? Yeah, if D's behind me, I'm freefallin backwards without a care in the world. And that has never happened with anyone (outside my family).

I wasn't looking for one, just an honest experience where trust was an issue. From my experience, every relationship I've been in, I was faced with challenges of trust, big or small. Most big ones are the end of the relationship, however, there have been marriages that have survived infidelity. I don't think anyone sets off in their mind that they are going to enter into a marriage where trust is a problem.

I can't give you what I don't have. As I said above to rj, I do consider that story somewhat 'trust-based'...and that story is the only time where it was an issue.

I dunno....there were no real trust issues with us. When we were apart, when we lived together...it's always the same.

But as far as how ppl go into marriages....I've read more than once on here where people ARE going into it when trust is a problem. Ironically enough, that is the motivation behind this thread.

It goes back to 100 different definitions of trust. Which (especially in an 'off the cuff' way and when it's brought up vis a vis marriage) for most people 'trust' first implies 'fidelity' or maybe 'honesty'.

Sussing out someone's character, and being comfortable with what you learn, is IMO a larger indicator as to whether or not that relationship will be successful.

Maybe it means trusting your own self to go with your faith in that person.

Well sure, IMO when you figure out someone's character, mentally you decide if they're trustworthy....

And also imo, trust is like an onion...there are many layers to it that go beyond just fidelity...

Anyways, time for me to go...I need to wake D up in 2 mins & then I'm going to bed...I'm goosed!

Nighty night peeps!

There's a song which is (over) played at the moment on the country stations. Some words in it just stick in my head.

.........I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me

Because of you......

There are probably 4 people I trust 100% in this world. One of them is Dave, but it took a long time. Once bitten, twice shy n all that.

and now a few quotes to ponder....

"To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved" George MacDonald

“Trust is like a vase.. once it's broken, though you can fix it the vase will never be same again.” Unknown

The only thing I trust is Smith and Wesson.

A Glock is more reliable.

brother stevie is a true american....he buys american guns...with s &w..and assault rifles...the AR15 over the AK..

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
